The PAC 12 tried expanding footprint about 15-20 years ago with Asia

“ In talking with the presidents and trying to determine the strategy for the conference going forward, it became clear to me that globalization was a big deal for the schools. Given the West Coast position of our conference, our schools are already the gateway to the Pacific Rim. There’s already a heavy Asian influence and it’s only natural for us [as a conference] to look West with so many of our schools already doing it.
And when you think of Asia and the Pacific, China is the highest priority.”

Dang I hope we are not trying to attract some universities over there to join the ACC. After Stanford and Cal all bets are off on the direction of realignment.

I say no it is not. College football playing outside of the USA will be a total bust. They have no system of playing that game in the secondary schools outside of the US and it certainly will not push soccer out of the way because soccer is so cheap to operate. Then nobody has any clue who these teams are. It would attract about as many fans as you see in a typical high school game.
If you have ever been to one of the NFL games in England (which I have) you will find that the attendance is mostly expats and Americans working there. When I went, there were Americans from all over Europe for the game in Wembley Stadium. I did have a couple from England next to me that came out of curiosity. I had to explain the game to them constantly and they just didn't get it.
In the end, what these games do is snub their actual fans. Moving games to where there are no fans of either team makes no sense to me at all. Again with the NFL putting games in Europe it is pie in the sky hopes. They are trying to court fans and expand market where nobody plays football and few ever watch it. Look at all the US cities that would love having an NFL franchise....why not test them out? Even Brazil would be more receptive than Europe. Why not play a game in San Antonio Texas which is too far from either Houston or Dallas to drive? Test the waters in some smaller US markets. The way college is going they might as well start an NFL farm league that plays in the smaller cities...but no. They think it better to try to convince Germans to play American football.

Why would they want to go see FSU?....

they (ESPN) successfully just kept them out of the playoffs
Now they want to "make up for it" by having Gameday in Ireland with 2 ACC teams with one of them being the one they just screwed. Not much of a compromise.
Sorry ESPN apology not accepted
