Can’t trust anybody but Knaak. That being said I’m going with the guy that gives the best chance of going deep into the game….darden has done that a few times. I just don’t trust smith to throw strikes…

I honestly can’t say what Bakich is thinking. I can tell you this… if he thinks he is one of our best the answer should be yes. Bring him in to shut down a big inning even if it’s the 6th inning

I think just getting out of the 1st or 2nd inning is the big key, seems like that's our downfall early when we lose....having that one wet the bed inning early.

We MUST stop going to Mahlstedt in jams. He does so much better when he starts an inning or comes in after a homerun. Empty bases helps him. He is almost certain to give up enough contact to give up inherited runners…. Gordon can get out of jams….. if we have a big situation in the 5th/6th/7th I’m going to my best to shut it down right then because maybe we go in and score a bunch of runs to stretch the game out and then you can put mahlstedt etc in
It’s postseason now. The pitching rotation and strategy totally changes

Perfect scenerio would be our starters go as long as possible, But Gordon could throw 2 innings if needed. I'd be ok with Darden or Smith game 1. That's a game we should win regardless, but def don't need give any freebies with the walks. We have to get 6-7 innings out of the starters to not put so much on the bullpen

Exactly. Biggest thing is the bullpen. We already have nothing there but the 2 we do have need to be saved. Smith never goes deep into games. Even when he’s on he still throws a ton of pitches. 5 innings is the most you’re getting out of him barring a miracle. If Darden can get ground balls he’s our best bet IMO to save the pen

Yeah it would've been nice to have Grice just one more year!..mainly for pitching. Him and Knaak could've been big time in the post season. We'll see what happens!
