last couple years? This is an injury that I never even remember hearing about athletes having growing up. Yet now, seems like somebody new has one everyday. Haliburton for the Pacers just the latest. Recent NFL ones in Rodgers and Watson, NBA Tatum for the Celtics as well.
Hey, Spike Lee, It's gotta be the SHOES? Or What?

the NBA guys Durant and Halliburton both had stiff leg injuries and tried to play through it which led to them having the same exact injury, basketball is obviously a fluid game cant lock up your leg and play through it by putting extras stress on your other leg and, puts too much pressure on your foot and (achilles) as for Aaron Rogers he's old and didn't spend time in camp much (working out) when he was injured.

It was blamed for every other medical condition in the past few years, so why not Achilles injuries too?

I look at least 5 years older since the vaccine came out. It must be the vaccine.

Bottom line, athletes have injuries and all they can do is train and hope luck is on their side.

Carbon Plated Shoes look to be the culprit

Just as the carbon-plated technology is drastically altering the Track and XC world with times making huge leaps since this technology was introduced and now refined. So to are we seeing this effect, except with more obvious injuries in the basketball world in particular.

IMO for sports where they play on grass fields

… most of the Achilles and knee issues come from playing on artificial turf.
With grass fields, if you cut hard, the grass tears and you kick up some dirt, but with a turf field or gripping surface, the grip of the feet on the surface allows for sharper cuts, but the weakest component is the human body so joints and ligaments get strained and pulled easier. Those motions over time compromise the structures in the human body, this leading to injuries.

'Roids and other strength enhancing products.

Achilles rupture is a classic example of a muscle growing stronger than the tendon itself. That normally doesnt happen as natural strength development strengthens the tendon along with the muscle. But performance enhancing products develop the muscle at a rate of growth higher than that of the underlying tendon, hence the tendon ruptures when it cannot handle the force production generated by the muscle.

I’ve had both Achilles repaired. Just the luck of the draw.

My take (wild guess) is much less off-season training & running

And way more video games. NCAA has slashed allowable coached practices and training.

Word on the street is it's the shoes. Low top don't seem support the Achilles as well.
