Lets ignore the fact he was only 2yds behind the LOS because his forward momentum was stopped

We’ll you can behind the line of scrimmage

However, I didn’t think you could once the ball had broken the line of scrimmage (as it seems to have done in this case). I know the handoff was behind the line of scrimmage, but didn’t the ball break the LOS prior to him being driven backwards.

Nope, I don’t think so

Think of halfback passes. You can handoff and as long as the ball stays behind the LOS and the first handoff wasn’t forward then the second player can throw/hand off forward the ball.
But, to me it looked like that ball broke the LOS prior to him being pushed back which would remove that ability(I think).
Not to mention when a RB is being pushed back 2 to 3 yards the forward progress has to be called as stopped. Unfortunately you can’t review that.

Looking at the rule, the back’s entire body has to be beyond the neutral zone before the handoff is illegal. It was pretty close, one of the craziest plays I’ve seen.

Didn’t think that was legal but great awareness from the freshman QB, he’s going to do some great things. Do bad it’ll be wasted due to OK never having a defense

Since when is forward progess not called?
If he had gotten past the first down marker, been driven back and fumbled the ball, he would have been given forward progress and awarded a first down.
