I'd be more apt to think Mike Bellamy than Dyer.

It's not a matter of giving the kids another chance. The issue is the damage either of them could cause to Clemson University by putting a known 'bad apple,' in such a barrel of high character quality of players.

Bellamy hasn't really done anything like Dyer has. Remember - Dyer and Lattimore were #1-2 coming out of HS - so YES we could use a Dyer in the backfield. Dabo is probably one of the few coaches on the planet to be able to actually make it work with Dyer. Dabo is NOT your normal coach in that I think he actually genuinely cares about his players. Dyer could use that type of coach right about now.
My vote is YES if Dabo is willing to do that. Dabo may have other plans though - so his decision is fine with me.

It's Dabo decision. He's a people person and certainly has our players conduct as a top priority. If Dabo gives the kid a shot I'll become a Dyer fan.
However, I don't buy into the concept that we need Dyer.
I think HotRod is better than Ellington.

I grew out of the organic stuff almost 40 years ago. I'm down to only licking a xanax during tight football games.

I'm not recommending drugs to deal with healthy anxiety. I've had 8 heart attacks, two zipper packages which included 8 bypasses.
In order to continue to survive I have to keep my BP in the 120(-) to 65(-) range. I haven't had a xanax in more than a month. They are dangerously addictive. Fool with that devil and you'll soon find you can only sleep four hours at a time and only when you've taken a 'pill.'
Enjoy the elevated heartrate and nose bleed causing blood pressure. That's why we love the game.

Dyer.
Glad I wouldn't have to be put in that position and definitely would trust Dabo's judgment. Off hand, despite the article and Dr. Hill's endorsement, I have a hard time justifying bringing in a kid who was kicked off of an SEC school's roster after he performed so well on the field, then booted from Arkansas State. The perception alone would be a lot to deal with. I also trust our running backs, who both chose Clemson and have done all that Clemson has asked of them.

I think I would roll the dice and take a chance on the kid if he was willing to walk-on but I would make it abundantly clear to him that he was on a very, very, very short leash. If there was even a hint of impropriety, he'd be gone.

that will permanently dismiss a player for one failed drug test. Most $EC schools, including $CU, have a four strikes before you're out policy.

It appears he was dismissed because his legal gun was used

in a crime. He was dismissed at Arkansas State after a traffic stop in which the officer dumped out some marijuana he found and improperly confiscated a legal unloaded handgun from his trunk. The officer was fired and Malzahn cut him loose.

It was both. Here is an excerpt from an SI article.

|

A star during Auburn’s BCS championship season, Dyer transferred to Arkansas State after he was indefinitely suspended by coach Gene Chizik following a failed drug test in 2011. He later testified in court to having his gun used in a March 2011 robbery by four of his Tigers teammates, and, once at Arkansas State, was dismissed by coach Gus Malzahn for another run-in with the law: Dyer was pulled over for speeding and had a gun confiscated from his car.

He believes the rules don't apply to him. He's above rules and anything else that encumbers his efforts and desire to self satisfaction.

People can grow up and change. I would give him a look and give him a grey shirt and make him earn his scholarship. Put him on a tight leash and see if it works. The guys is super talented and was the BCS MVP. I think it is worth looking!

I trust Dyer more than Bart
Jul 10, 2013, 12:55 PM
|
|
Yesterday, there was a awful big headlining article by Bart in our local Sun-news - 'Can Clemson get past its stigma"? In the whole article, not one word was mentioned about LSU win, which in most of the media's mind got us past the "stigma" of "pulling another Clemson.". Where has Bart been? He has an agenda against our Tigers from what little I have read. GO TIGERS. GO AWAY BART!

I like the article that asks if we can think of another backfield that needs someone like Dyer more than Clemson. Uh...yeah, there's one right down the road in Columbia that's full of unproven talent too, Bart.
