Savannah Bananas!?!

This was on NPR tonight, so half the Politics board would tell me it's fake news. But has anyone been to a Savannah Bananas game? They're barnstorming to Hartford this summer and sound fun - the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball?

Gastonia Grizzlies that started the phenomenon of putting on a 'circus' during the game and actually had a few years run of being named best game experience by the sports industry publication Stadium Magazine. The Grizzlies put on one of the best shows in sports and had one of the best concessions stands of any stadium I've ever been in. Donut bun hot dogs, donut bun hamburgers, trash can nachos served on an actual steel trash can lid, and an incredible craft beer garden. We used to go to a handful of games every summer and always had a blast. They'd still be in Gastonia if the city hadn't built a new stadium and priced the Grizzlies out of a lease.

Or, at least, the first couple of episodes (it gets repetitive). It's a really cool concept they have going on there. Hoping to get to a game soon.

Halloween weekend in Savannah, we saw a guy dressed up in a full uniform working in the Lululemon store. My wife struck up a conversation with him about tight fitting pants and working out and found out he was actually a Banana's player that works there part time and that was his actual uniform. I think we have a picture of her with him.

Anyways, the games/show looks like alot of fun. We are going to try and hit up some minor league ball here, but the Bananas don't come to Wilmington to play the Sharks per their schedule. I think they are in the same league though, or were at one time.
