Just makes for a less interesting tournament. I'd leave this Conference for the stupidity of this alone.

They can't play double elimination but they can do single elimination with a meaningless consolation game? DAH

They have 12 teams with the top 4 getting a first round bye. Teams 5-12 play one elimination game with the 4 winners moving on to a real double elimination tournament. You get a real conference double elimination tournament, and I think we have enough evidence to show that it doesn’t hurt anyone’s chances to play well a week later in the NCAA tournament

THIS. Despite all the talk about burning through pitchers,the SEC has this format and continues to have multiple teams go deep into the CWS.
