Question for anybody who voted for Trump, or is considering voting

for him this time, AND was alive when Ronald Reagan was president:
If, by some miracle, a 70-yr old Reagan showed up today as a candidate, assuming Reagan was up to date on the issues, who would you vote for, Trump or Reagan?
I'd vote for Reagan in a heartbeat.

That's why I specified "a 70-yr old Reagan", which was how old he was

when he started his 1st term (actually 69 when elected), and well before his dementia set in. And God forbid an old white dude, that would be terrible. An old black or brown dude would be so much better. I mean the race of our president is one of the most important factors.

Reagan gave the Berlin Wall speech well into his second term. Could you imagine Joe Biden trying to do something like that?

The answer is no, but he he is far better at delivering a speech than GRANDDADDY.
The reason I didn't originally answer your question is because most of what you post is drivel.

This seems like the consistent response for someone who is voting for Trump in good faith based on perceived policy issues.

Today's MAGA are philosophically illiberal, and hold in contempt the principles of Western enlightenment baked into the Constitution because to them freedom opens the door to immoral behavior. They would argue they do believe in "freedom," but they are confusing individual liberty with being anti-Establishment. They would quickly turn on key freedoms if it meant gaining ground for their agenda. Guys like Jack Posobiec, who have been championed quite a bit by the MAGA crowd on here, are more direct with their hostility to freedom, but he represents this philosophy well. The aim of MAGA is not to make "America Great," but to turn it into a theocracy where behavior can be socially engineered for "our own good." This is why, philosophically, there is little different between the Populist Right and the Progressive Left. The only thing they disagree on is the behavior they want to force.
I've posted this a few times before. It's by a Clemson professor (my favorite at Clemson), and nails the issue:
"Much more interesting than the ho-hum anti-Americanism of the progressive Left, though, is the rise in recent years of a rump faction of former Paleo or Tradcons, who have come out of their ideological closet and transitioned from pro- to anti-Americanism. The recent rise of the radical Right in America is distinguished from all previous forms of conservatism and libertarianism by its explicit rejection of the founders’ liberalism.
A new generation of neo-reactionary ideologues looks at contemporary America and sees nothing but moral, cultural, and political decay, which they blame on the soullessness of the founders’ Americanism. Remarkably, just like the radical Left, the radical Right condemns the philosophy of 18th-century liberalism as untrue and therefore immoral. It is the source, they claim, of all our present discontents."

the founder's liberalism with perhaps the one contemporary caveat of the abortion dilemma.
The leap to "which they blame on the soullessness of the founders' Americanism" is likewise BS. "Live and let live"... Constitutionally.
Your problem comes from crediting "the principles of Western enlightenment" to our contemporary Establishment. Just ain't so.

Modern Republican voters seek the same things they wanted 40 years ago. They want lower taxes, less government regulation, secure borders, strong military, fiscal restraint, Etc. Was Reagan perfect in all of these areas? No. Is Trump? No. But point me in the direction of the Pub candidate who is hammering those issues. It certainly isn't Nikki and she couldn't now get elected dog catcher in her own state so let's stop pretending she's even a viable candidate at this point.
However let's not pretend like it's not the Democrat Party that has undergone a tremendous transformation. They are now pro censorship, anti-personal freedom (get those shots or else) , pro war, anti Jew and perhaps most surprisingly, have become the party of the wealthy elite and mega corporations. Don't believe me? Check out where the biggest corporations and richest Americans donte politically and you'll see confirmation. So much for the little guy (unless he's an illegal living somewhere other than their home towns of course then they love them) .

I voted for the dumborangesonofab1tch against Hill. Figured he was just being a loudmouth ahole during the campaign but would settle in and take the job seriously. On Gawd I was wrong. Every day he effed up worse than the day before and I watched as my party did everything they could to sweep his dumb chit under the rug and make excuses for him. Eff that! The Republican Party is supposed to support personal responsibility and stand for principled reason. He took a gian dump on the party and they ate it.
Reagan was a principled man and a true servant leader. DJT is a POS criminal and traitor.

Reagan was a RINO that couldn't carry DADDY's jockstrap. He believed in "open borders" and was too hostile to Russia. That buffoon believed in strength instead of appeasement and he gave the Iranians pallets of cash.
Am I doing this right?

If it takes you more than 10 seconds to send out a tweet to try to calm a bunch of yahoos that rioted at the Capitol, then you're definitely not fit to be President. Especially in these dangerous times. I know who to vote against today. That's an easy choice.
