Pete Thamel/FSU

Sep 22, 2023, 12:35 PM

Proof that these idiots don’t know what they’re talking about:

“I don’t think that Clemson has enough talent in the secondary to be able to contain Keon Coleman specifically.”

Our secondary has really been the biggest strength of the entire team in my opinion. The talent speaks for itself with Mukuba, Wiggins, Phillips, Barnes, etc. They held up okay against Duke. There has been no indication that our secondary is what will cost us the game vs FSU. Where do you come up with that as an “expert analyst”?

Our secondary likely has higher caliber players compared to their WR corps. What is he going on about?

He's got those special Portal Powers

and he hurdled a So. Miss player = Heisman moment

They come up with their prediction then just make up stuff to

Sep 22, 2023, 12:38 PM

Justify their points

FSU’s receivers are good, so it must mean that Clemson doesn’t have players in secondary in order to contain them

These guys vote for Heismans

Every Heisman winner is a complete NFL bust.
BCS algorithms and CFP committee had to be created because they were so bad at identifying and predicting talent

2018 - Kyler Murray - jury still out
2017 - Baker Mayfield - not a bust
2016 - Lamar Jackson - not a bust

Baker’s a bust lol.

He’s a 1st overall pick player. He hasn’t done squat in however many years.

He's certainly not a bust. He's been a starting QB for 4 different NFL franchises, including still today with the Bucs. He led the Browns to the playoffs and won a game, which is a miracle in itself.

Don't get me wrong - I am not a Baker Mayfield fan. But he's one of only 32 people on the planet that is a starting NFL QB, and he's held that position for parts of 7 years.

GREATEST QB OF ALL TIME!!!

😜

I work with a huge Cleveland Browns fan and and he’ll tell you he’s a major bust.

Your statement about every Heisman is highly questionable.
Besides, Heisman is about college performance as you well know.

2022: Caleb Williams, QB, USC Trojans - N/A
2021: Bryce Young, QB, Alabama Crimson Tide - N/A
2020: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama Crimson Tide - not a bust
2019: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU Tigers - not a bust
2018: Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma Sooners - bust
2017: Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma Sooners - tbd
2016: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville Cardinals - not a bust
2015: Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama Crimson Tide - not a bust
2014: Marcus Mariota, QB, Oregon Ducks - bust
2013: Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State Seminoles - bust…but holding out hope
2012: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M Aggies - bust because ..watch the documentary
2011: Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor Bears - not a bust because injury stupid Redskins
2010: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn Tigers - not a bust
2009: Mark Ingram II, RB, Alabama Crimson Tide - not a bust
2008: Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma Sooners - not a bust
2007: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida Gators - nobody thought he was NFL talent but Josh…
2006: Troy Smith, QB, Ohio State Buckeyes - not drafted high; no bust
2005: Reggie Bush, RB, USC Trojans* - productive but not all world, maybe not a bust but instead busty
2004: Matt Leinart, QB, USC Trojans - what was he like a #7 pick? Still a bust imho.
2003: Jason White, QB, Oklahoma Sooners - wasn’t even drafted
2002: Carson Palmer, QB, USC Trojans - not a bust
2001: Eric Crouch, QB, Nebraska Cornhuskers - drafted as a DB..not a bust
2000: Chris Weinke, QB, Florida State Seminoles - drafted 106 …can you be a true bust at 106?

I dont think Coleman even caught the ball

last week...maybe he got hurt, idk. And had one big play against USM.

Heard he was targeted three times and he let the staff know he wasn’t happy with only three targets

Im convinced after what we have seen since Mike Reed has been here that he is the best coach on the current staff. His guys always play with swagger and passion, they get developed, they get drafted, and they go through 3 year cycles of dominance with a 4th year of pain and growth. Reed makes dbs simple as that.

Secondary held up well last year outside of the last two drives.. they gashed us early in the run surprisingly. I think Wiggins can hold up his end as he did on Wilson early last year(he gave up final td on a scramble and nice throw by Jordan) The question is who will Cover Bell and Wilson/Coleman opposite of Wiggins. Need them all to play well and keep the ball in front of them. Our biggest problem vs Duke was Riley scrambles and Rbs sneaking out the back for check downs. That is on Carter not finding the rb sneaking out and dline over pursuit and not containing the qb. Secondary is definitely not the weakness. I think we see the defense as a wholes best game tomorrow.

I think Barnes can do the job. He’s a natural talent.

But Lukus is also there, as well as Pride, Terrell, and probably some others.

Back to the OP.

Coleman and Wilson have occasional drops.

Maybe they are fabulous tomorrow. Maybe they are mediocre.
