Oppenheimer, my opinion nobody wants..

It was an interesting story worth telling yet was rarely entertaining, too long and artistically over indulgent. Christopher Nolan glossed over Oppenheimer's warts and focused too much on the reputation and public opinion of the man. The actual development of the Atomic bomb should have been a greater focus of the film, with the internal termoil being a secondary plot. I wanted to like this film but found myself ready to leave halfway through.
Other opinions?

My opinion is probably one which would be held by my father (if he were alive today).
As a tank commander in the Pacific who had just left Anguar and Peleliu via ship hauling his tanks and men toward a calculated 90% casualty tally for an upcoming invasion assault on Japan, his comment would likely be:
Thank you Herr Oppenheimer.... and thank you, Mr. Truman.
My father told me that packed away on that ship headed for the coast of Japan and hearing the news of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a tremendous relief for him and his men.

the development of the bomb in the USA as a best use case. The bomb was going to be created(and used) if not by us then by Germany or the USSR.
I find the issue to be similar to that of AI..the geenie is out of the bottle and will be used. If a company decides not to use it, it will be at their own expense. Making sure AI is maintained for purposes to improve mankind is of the utmost importance.

I have been watch the HBO series The Pacific today. Those guys went through hell. I had a grandfather and 2 great uncles in WW2 but the one that went to Pacific was never the same.
Already watched Band of Brothers and loved it. The Pacific is just brutal war and conditions.

War is brutal no matter where it is waged.
My father's experience in the Pacific conferred the Purple Heart award to him, but my uncle's experience in the Battle of the Bulge earned him several trips after the war to a sanitorium where he endured electric shock therapy for what was then called "shell shock".
There is no adequate description of the emotional and mental damage caused by war..... to either warriors or victims.

I would like to see this movie, but with a 3 hour run time I'd just as soon wait til it's available through streaming. Or, just go back and rewatch Paul Newman's 1989 movie Fat Man and Little Boy.

This movie is basically a remake of the movie "Fat Man And Little Boy" starring Paul Newman . That was a better movie IMO.

You're not wrong. Nolan is great but predictable

Too long and over indulgent. Opp had some issues that were glossed over and the film should have focused a lot more on the bomb, the impact of its creation and the aftermath of its use.

WGN had a series called Manhattan in 2014-2015. It ran 2 seasons and, in my opinion, was a way better depiction of this time in in history. Its streaming on Amazon now, I believe.

Reading all these critiques of the movie, which I have NOT

yet seen, I would remind all that the movie title is OPPENHEIMER. It is NOT "The Bomb", or "How I built the Bomb". The fact that they show the bomb going off is certainly a drawing card for the movie, but I believe it is supposed to be a biopic of the man, moreso than the bomb. Everybody already knows the bombs blew up, spoiler alert!

I haven't seen it yet, but it feels like a movie I'd get bored in. Nolan his hit or miss for me. Sometime his head is too far up his own ### like with Tenet.

Good, not great. Definitely does not live up to the hype. Two totally gratuitous tiddy scenes.
