My game plan for Saturday...

after last week's performance, I feel GT will look for and key on Mafah. I would have two back sets, with some misdirection or play action pass might open up the field. The OL needs to give Cade enough time and open up holes for other backs. A lot of counters out of the back field and crossing patterns by the receivers.

Now, I'm not offensive guru or JV coach like Francis Marion® but just some thoughts.

I probably need to keep my day job.

I too am a little gun shy to game plan. But he seems busy thought-policing the boards these days. So I think we're good.

I figure GaTech will work to take away those little 10 yard dunk passes and force the QB to put more air under the ball. Which is scary.

And it puts the onus on the OLine to build a pocket and also make a way for Shipley, who I believe gets the start if he's able.

I bet Riley builds an entire plan around Shipley and Mafah to the point that they account for 60 or 70 percent of the snaps.

And Riley didn't ask me but I'd put the pill in Phil's hands all day, use Shipley to spell him when he gets tired, and run it til GaTetch's front goes blind with fatigue.

I think Clemson's D has it's work cut out in Haynes King who is white-hot and very capable. He was pretty good at Texas aTm. I believe Jimbo prolly ran him off.

Don't understand the -14 Clemson line with him under center for GT. But I'm no bookie.

I'd put a fake loop on Mafah's shoulder brace. When they grab it the loop falls off. They are left holding air and Mafah is gone.

GT is not even top 50 in rush defense or total defense. I hope we are able to run and lean on that. In my layman opinion, we are better off that way until QB/WR are more reliable. I definitely look forward to our return to WRU one day, but I have always had a bias in favor of the ground game.

when we run, we need to run straight at them as they will have more speed on the edges . . . they don’t have the middle depth to contain us for 4 quarters.
