This is a very reasonable possibility.

Although some here won’t want to hear it. To them, Dabo always gets what he wants and therefore no one can possibly turn down a Clemson offer.

I've heard that same thing about the DC at Denver. As I said in a post yesterday to someone hoping we'd get Hafley, I don't think we're paying 4+ million for a DC. Which is what an NFL DC would make. So if I'm Leonhard, I think I'd go for the NFL DC slot.

As a side note. Miami got them a good one with that coach from Minnesota.

Another important point...

Killing off the elite Junior day this month (2-3 weeks prior) for a combined big Junior day and elite Junior day in March "to ensure the DC hire has been made (per TCI) can't be a good sign.

I'm not sure Lee Corso would hurt his recruiting intentionally either

So many reasons, just a few I can think of

1. Fired Wes with only a "short list" of names. A short list is probably 10 people deep
2. His top choice is still coaching in CFB and both sides don't want to create a distraction
3. His top choice ws still coaching in CFB and one/both sides wanted to wait until after to hammer thru the offer
4. His top choice is still coaching in NFL and wasn't given formal permission to speak until after they exit from the playoffs
5. His top choice turned us down and so we are on to #2, 3 etc
6. His top choice required a salary that took time to get in front of Clements/BoT
7. Any combination of the above or the likely dozens of reasons not listed
