Politics board....
Apparently ESPN is really the power behind all of college football and is using their puppet CFP organization to do their bidding. Disney and their evil spawn - ESPN - had the CFP Committee take care of their SEC investment to ensure Alabama got into the CFP! It's all ESPN's doing and the ACC should boycott all of their bowl games to get back at them!
The amount of unmitigated stupid that this whole FSU thing is bringing out of the woodwork is almost beyond words....

that lets $12B just wander awry...
I disagree with the reactions and over-playing of the situation. But to state that Disney's monetary investment has nothing to do with what happened Sunday is as naive as saying the ACC should boycott all bowl games.
CFB is absolutely controlled by the media companies right now, and it's problem number 1. It's Disney v Fox.

No. They are renting content.

Espn wanted the ACC to go to 20 conf basketball games. Sadly, they now are at 20. That's how they run the sports. They need content.

So you're saying, no, ESPN does not control college sports.
But then you give an example of ESPN forcing a league to do what they (ESPN) want as part of their contract negotiations?
I agree with you, lol. This is how they dictate college sports. They control the ####### money!

That said there is no stated reason I'll accept for FSU being left out.
If is some kind of conspiracy, that's all I can make sense of at this point.

I don't ever recall a selection being so controversial.
I mean, why not put Bama in there last year? I'm sure OSU had an injury somewhere they could have leaned on.
I agree with what you said I just don't think it applies in this case based on the fact that it hasn't seemed to apply with the last many years worth of selections.

It is a fundamental difference of opinion about the mission/purpose of the CFP.

To which CFP is in large part responsible by leaving it undefined, or not following what has been defined.
Is their job to pick the 4 strongest teams, wherein all the traditional measures get the teams into a Top 6 conversation, but the eyeball test decides the top 4.
OR, is their job to weigh more heavily those who "deserve" to be there via record/championships, even if they are strongly considered to be a weaker opponent.
Where you fall on this pretty accurately sorts how people feel about the FSU pick.

The eye test is a farce
so FSU isn't as flashy without qb #1. Their #2 didn't get much of a chance to show what he could do and will be back. So their "eyes" didn't really see what reality will be.
No one is talking about how FSU's D may be strong enough to keep it close so offense can muddle their way.
It does make me wonder, would be really funny if FSU sued the CFP committee for not following precedent. The amount of "firsts" this year in this selection is somewhat suspect

they've faced this dilemma
last year, 4 teams were 1 loss or better - easy
2021 - took UGA and Bama over ND (also had 1 loss). meh, whatever, #### notre dame
2020 - covid year - scrap
2019 - 4 teams were 1 loss or better - easy
2018 - 5 teams were 1 loss or better - Ohio State got snubbed for Oklahoma. Notable but still irrelevant: UGA (2 loss) was ranked above Ohio State (1 loss)
2017 - 5 teams were 1 loss or better - Wisconsin gets snubbed (think they got drug by 2 Loss tOSU in Big 10 game iirc); 2 SEC teams got in
2016 - 4 teams were 1 loss or better - easy
2015 - 6 teams were 1 loss or better - 1 Loss Iowa and tOSU got snubbed for Michigan State
2014 - 6 teams were 1 loss or better - 1 Loss Baylor and 1 Loss TCU left out

Its a business and they didnt want another TCU after last year is my theory. They "knew" FSU shouldn't really be there. That's my theory. They want great games with great ratings. Not duds.

Sure is... I've been poking that CFP bear over there since Sunday and have about run out of steam. I'm debating posting one or two last things to cap it off and then going full ignore on anything related to the CFP.
I'm thinking I can send some folks into one last conniption fit by simply posting the FSU offensive stats with Travis and without Travis. I've got the by game numbers and boy is it an ugly difference which unless FSU finds some miracle answer between now and New Years - the leghumper defense is gonna be draggin' his shriveled up ballzack all over whatever remains of FSU's non-opt out, transfer portal dream team...

But maybe there is a coincidental correlation between picking the 4 strongest teams inherently providing the best match-ups, and television money for ESPN.
