Kirk Herbstreit and SEC bias.

I know this subject is hit on all the time and some of you may be tired of hearing about it. But i found this too good not to post.
Check out the attached picture. It's a tweet from Herbstreit speaking of the defensive battle that was taking place in the Poinsettia Bowl between BYU and SDSU. During the 3rd quarter, the score was 6-3 SDSU.
This is Kirk's tweet: "For those of us who love watching any and every bowl game--this is tough!!! Seriously..You gotta love the game to stomach this!"
So when SDSU and BYU play a great defensive game with a low score, it's hard to stomach.
But last year, when LSU beat Alabama 9-6, they hailed it as one of the best games in College Football history.
What gives with these guys?

But there is a difference between a game with lots of unforced/sloppy turnovers and one where the defenses plain stop the offensives.
That said... It's all merely a media game. Such as, I am glad to hear our coaches talk about being physical and the team talk about hard practices. That needs to be driven home every week. Then the team needs to show out. Squeaky wheel gets the grease... Media works that way.

attention, focus, n' realistic respect. I agree w/ sburghtiger on this; I think it's only a good thing for us that SEC football is so revered. We're 1 of 2 teams in the southeastern U.S. worth a darn not in the SEC n' therefore all the SEC hooplah only carries over into our mojo. Remember Herbstreit hangs out w/ Musberger all the time n' isn't Musberger the guy that coined the hill run "the most exciting 25 seconds in college football"?
Here's my favorite 8 minutes of Kirk Herbstreit's life from May of this year prior to the season speaking solely on Clemson w/ his roundtable buddies including Desmond Howard (apparently you haven't seen things like this):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HamB6Z89vJ4
If that doesn't show you that Herbstreit at least WANTS to be in our corner then I don't know what to tell you. The pie is there for the taking; we just have to do it on the field now.

that you expect to hurt when pulling for Clemson. Only a few times in our history have we not kicked ourselves in the gohnads when given the opportunity.

Is when they talk about the "grind" of the SEC and how brutal it is. Yet when you look at the SOS rankings the Big 12 teams are actually playing the toughest schedules.

Did you watch the game?
Dec 21, 2012, 8:45 AM

I did simply because there was nothing else on. The BYU QB could barely throw a spiral. In the 4th before the defensive TD, they ran the exact same crossing pattern 3 times in a row and the kid could barely get the ball past the LBs.
The SDSU QB must have been color blind because he threw to the wrong uniform as much as he did his own.
Herbstreit wasn't showing SEC bias. If anything he was pointing out that this bowl is proof that there are WAAAAAAYYYYYYY too many bowls.

can't wait until Saturday night to see the Falcons play to get that game out of my brain....it was some of the worst football I've seen in a long time. The QB for BYU looked like what he was...a career back up.

LSU/Bama had a lot at stake, SEC champ., NC title implications etc. this bowl game was in front of an empty stadium and no one past the coaches cared who won... There was a lot of drama in that game, the bowl game had none...
