Cool thing about Dirty Dozen is most of the guys who played in that movie actually served in WWII.

You're correct. Bronson was a legitimate war hero. He was a gunner on B-29s in the Pacific. He won a purple heart and flew on more than 20 missions over Japan.

That is one star studded cast. I watch it almost every time it comes on..
TCM followed that up with Cool Hand Luke
That movie makes everybody's top ten.
Solid top 5 for me. Awesome cast also
