Im wondering if a home first round game is the best playoff seed

Oregon played like a team that couldn’t knock the rust off

Maybe Ohio State is just that good

So far Penn St, Ohio State, and Texas are proving that playing at home is better than sitting at home though

Maybe. But it's hard to justify that argument this year. ASU and BSU were underdogs regardless of the winner between Clemson/Texas and SMU/PSU respectively. Additionally, if Georgia loses, it could be due to their starting their back-up QB and not due to the rust.

Oregon and Ohio St. offer some evidence to your theory though a counterpoint would be that it is difficult to beat a team twice especially given the game was at a neutral site and Oregon only barely beat Ohio St. in Eugene when they played earlier in the year.
