How do you know that it is broken? Maybe ligament damage or separation.

Dabo will do what's best for the player. Get him healed up, finish out the season and help him move forward with his career in the NFL. I want to see him on the field but let's get him healthy.

whether or not it's a stable fracture. IF it's a load bearing and isn't stable meaning it wouldn't heal back straight because not aligned, may need surgery. Also, I don't know exactly which bone it is but sometimes "toe" could be a misnomer as could actually be a metatarsal etc. You are correct a simple "toe fracture" normally wouldn't.

I watched a RB teammate get a needle in his foot to kill the pain for a toe injury everyday before and after practice, and before, at halftime and after each game for a full season. After the surgery at the end of the season, he never carried the ball again. If XT makes it back by NC State great, but whenever he comes back, being completely healed is the way to go.

Drilling a hole in the center of the toe bone and inserting a pin so it grows back straight. It may have been more than one fracture.
Don’t we have a bone doctor here?

Have you ever seen professional athletes' bare feet?

Do a Google search. You will get a new appreciation for the foot pain they play with. If he needs surgery, it must be painful.
