If the SEC is able to put the NCAA out of business

Jul 28, 2021, 9:37 AM

Does the 85 scholly limit still apply ?

I think the SEC is trying to create a monopoly

Bama may go back to having 150 players on scholarship

That is a great question.

We can all only speculate right now. Will the SEC decide to "take their football and go home" and break away from the NCAA, not just in football, but in every sport?

How will the NIL affect this? Will they say, "We don't' need to give our players more money, we can just let the NIL take care of that? Will they say, "We're gonna give 120 scholarships and put everybody else out of business?" Will they say, "We can offer so much in scholarships and NIL that we can recruit every 4 and 5 star player in the country so we don't need 85 scholarships, 70 will do."

Who knows? Not I. We'll just have to wait and see.

how big money, elitism and regional marketplace appeal impacts college football popularity.

The NCAA concept and multiple conferences created a broad national market. Does a Georgia- South Carolina game really have appeal in the Midwest, West or New England. Maybe if Michigan or UCLA or Arizona or Penn State is in the mix for a playoff spot.

Who really wants to watch a regional minor league system for the NFL. Why not just watch the NFL?

Why not watch both?***

These universities, instead of expressing the common will of those universities.

In general - I'd love to be walking the halls of the NCAA

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.
