He may stll be a really good guy, and he may make a fine VP, or at least better than many. But what I am seeing on TV right now is just another disgustingly shifty, pandering, mealy-mouthed politician. He reminds me of a lot of people I know, who refuse to answer a straightforward question because they don't like the answer. Instead he repeatedly deflects and redirects, giving lengthy non-answers. For him, questions and interviews, or any attempt to learn anything whatsoever, is a waste of time; he's just going to ignore all of that and give a campaign speech.
I realize it's nothing new, but it seems to be worse than ever, and I become more and more disappointed and disgusted with the current state of our political system and the direction it's headed.

Bob Inglis could probably break this one down for you.

If you sat down with Tim Scott and had a one-on-one with him with the cameras and microphones off, I am sure you would like him a great deal.

To the extent that "establishment War Party Republican" means the way

I just described Tim Scott, or to the extent it means politicians putting party politics and power (or anything else, for that matter) above the constitution or respecting the will of the people and doing what's best for them, then I agree. To the extent it means having to embrace a fuckfaced narcissist like Trump, then I couldn't disagree more.
The problem is that so many people have been brainwashed into thinking our only choices are one of the above, or a liberal socialist.

because he never wavered, pandered, and told it like it is. So he was run out of Congress.
Probably some woman in his past or some sort of blackmail. Who knows. But the people who speak the truth either change and tow the line, or they resign for no apparent reason. Congress is broken, and it's broken the rest of the country in the process.
Again I'll vote every day of the week and twice on Sunday's for Congressional term limits, and a balanced budget amendment. NEITHER of which you will ever see make the floor for a vote organically in Congress. It must be forced, or we will flounder. May be 5 years, 10 years, who knows, but Congress is thoroughly broken IMO. And there is no political solution for it, as we've seen in the past. Remember the Tea Party? Those folks have either been assimilated into the collective in Washington, or shown the door.

There's a saying in engineering to the effect of the outcome of a system is it's purpose, and you can see it in politics. Until you get the money out of politics, politicians aren't going to serve their constituents, they're going to please their donors. The system is so broken that even if well meaning people want to go into politics, either the two parties will lock them out or they'll be corrupted by the system.

It took political guts for T.Scott to reject the person who promoted him (I.e., Nikki Haley).
Nikki was exposed during the Republican primary as a person who differed greatly from her public persona.
Good for Tim Scott for his mental & psychological agility to reject N.Haley.
I’ll readily admit that, prior to the Republican primary, I had perceived Nikki as just another one of those sound bite Republicans. Didn’t pay enough attention to her to realize her deep allegiance to Boeing and Raytheon, and the concurrent corruptibility that came with that. I also overestimated her intellect prior to the primaries.
Tim Scott is no hero, but at least he recognizes the obvious stuff.

Agreed; he is a letdown. Same as Nancy Mace.

Mace's 'relationship' with Trump is all about her kissing his orangeass every chance she gets to put her face on a camera. And that's after Trump determined that "everyone despises Mace" and that she is "crazy" and a "bad person".
But coming from Trump, who seems to have a problem with following the law, and stating the truth, and forcing himself on women, those descriptions may not necessarily be a bad thing, I guess.
