The more I watch new comics make movies, or what is considered comedic movies these days, the more I like Sandler. He’s made a ton of movies. A few of them are more than solid in my opinion. It’s an easy out, to call Sandler a hack. But if it were not for being able to witness comedic talent decades after its origin due to technological advances, he would’ve been a legend. We’ve been telling the same jokes for years. You can’t tell them in the same way as others and you can’t reuse the format out of the chance that someone will recognize your source. Even our original material is easily traced back to our influences. It’s complicated. I’d rather think of Sandler as a jester that’s happy to do what he does. He’s found his niche and he’s making the most of it.
