How long is a baseball game anyway?

excluding all the time the players are standing around, I am talking when the ball is in the air, people are running around, something could happen to change the outcome, etc... I would think it is good 12 minutes, with the other 2+ hours of waiting around, people scratching their jocks and spitting.

There has to be a way to make the game more fast-paced and exciting, like if a batter can pry the ball away from the catcher, he can run the bases with it until someone tackles him out, or the pitcher can simply hit the base runner with the ball to get him out and we remove the mitts from the game. We have to think outside the box if we are going to save this sport.
