...at the end of the day, we ended up right where most people probably expected before the season. The big three: Duke, Florida State, and Clemson, are all ACC tournament semifinalists. Now it was never really in doubt for the Blue Devils, but for how lackluster the Seminoles and Tigers looked this season compared to their usual standard, they still wind up in the last four. The expected fourth-best team was likely Virginia Tech, who are now 2 outs away from losing to Georgia Tech down by 4 runs in the last quarterfinal, so that would be a bit of a surprise should that result hold. But the other 3 spots are all chalk despite how suspect FSU and Clemson have looked for much of the year. Maybe that's a good sign.
Not sure you can say it wasn’t in doubt for Duke…they needed extra innings to get past BC and were it not for inconsistent strike zone by the ump, BC could have come out ahead.
