Finally got a certificate of occupancy...

Not that anyone here cares, but it's been about a year and half trying to get a business off the ground and we got our CO today. Fighting with county inspectors, jumping through hoops, arguing code, firing engineers, dealing with Helene and we finally have a CO.
If Duke can get out there this week we should be open for business in time for the 4th.
What a forking ######## trying to open a business in Henderson County, NC.
If anyone is around the Etowah, NC area I'll poast about the date for the grand opening of our meat market. All the beef is local and raised on pastures on the French Broad. We'll have a full time butcher on site as well for any specific cuts.

Also, will probably be only about an hour away so if the hours of operation work I can certainly support a little.

They are raised on the finest human garbage and ethically ended by vehicles traveling in excess of 60 mph so there is no suffering. It also tenderizes the meat for your enjoyment.

How far is it from your shop to G'vegas. I'm looking at a map and thinking 35-40 miles so a couple hours seems fair.
I haven't had a good slab of beef or even a decent hamburger in a decade. I actually quit eating beef because it's just fat disguised as meat.
Can you tell I'm excited and this ole feller has an empty freezer waiting on your services.

Not yet. Apparently the county has another inspection we have to pass before we can open.

You know what I hate about inspectors?

They believe their jobs are to find something wrong and fill out a piece of paper. They don't inspect, they 'discover.'
When they mature enough to comprehend that the set goal for their position is the safety they get promoted and the public is charged with training their replacements.
I had one young idiot inspector try to make us tear out a set of steps which had risers of exactly 4". The situation was such that the front porch was about 4' from the walk and he didn't want anyone sweating to make the climb.
Each step was 4 inches higher than the the last and was more a landing than a step. It was such that you took a step up then a step forward before getting to the next step. It was all brick along with the proposed handrail.
The idiot said these steps need a 7 3/8" rise. I said we need to look at your book and uncover the spirit of the law rather than the letter. He took a little condensed handbook out of his pocket and started turning pages.
When he looked back up at me I said 'Max 7 3/8 inch?' I mean, where do they find these idiots? USCe?
