But what makes something a sports bar vs a regular bar or restaurant? I would have to go with Esso, as it seems mostly about the sports and Clemson. TTT, Sloan Street, Nick’s and the (late) Gameroom always seemed more about the alcohol. TD’s was somewhere in the middle.
When I was in school, the Esso had a very limited menu, and relied heavily on Just Barbecue next door for food…and it had pool tables. On non-game days, it was just the diehards…it was Clemson’s answer to Cheers. The others were always packed with sloppy drunk students.
I know TTT has adapted, too (and still has pool tables), and maybe trended more toward sports bar, but Esso is still my vote.
