It’s not the anti Daboish guys it’s the extreme Dabo is a God type poster that seems troubled by portal use. And it’s the same handles that make me cringe when I see their name. You know the old grey hairs that think it’s so funny to call someone a coot that upsets them.

I trust the GOAT to do what he feels is best for the program. If he wants to fill some spots with transfers over HS recruits? Great. If not? Great. I trust him to attract kids to the program that fit the mold, however they get here. He's been clear that he's not against using the portal when the opportunity for both parties aligns. Hard to disagree with that stance.
I believe many fans have a tendency to oversimplify matters and point out the 'obvious' when it's anything but. Dabo is stubborn and stuck in his ways and letting the game pass him by because he hasn't done much with the portal or floated big NIL deals to attract blue chippers, yet it only seems to impact one side of the ball and not the other? That doesn't add up. There's always more to the story and there's no panaceas out there for whatever ails you.
Portal? Don't portal? I leave that to the pros.

Fair points, thanks for responding. My only comment would be that as far as offense-defense, we clearly have been able to recruit at a higher level on the defensive side of the ball, particularly in the trenches. Just look at the difference in talent between our OL and our DL. I don't think anyone is oversimplifying it when we say perhaps we could have brought in a couple of experienced big uglies to help out on the OL, particularly when we've missed on several HS recruits in that area.
We've certainly been limited by the numbers so we didn't have room to bring in many to begin with. But, I think we maybe could have been a little better with roster management that could have made a bit of a difference this year. Another WR or two might have been very helpful as well, but again, the numbers may not have worked out.
What we do going forward will be interesting to watch.

I’m fine with it either way. I was more aggravated at folks stating you cannot win or that was the reason for our decline. I don’t believe that. Dabo has always said he would use it when he felt the need to. People harping on the lack of use annoyed me.

A big improvement over being 2-4 vs Power 5's on the season 4 weeks ago.
The '24 class still has a few spots remaining on that front, plus now we have a QB and OL out the door, and likely an RB considering Senior Day and all.
We've filled QB vacancies lately with Sr. style protection, and it sounds like OL is being targeted early. At RB I don't know that there's much of a push to fill with EZ on his way in and the remaining cats here to fill in for Ship's departure, assuming that's coming.
On the QB side I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1st or 2nd year project transfer that we see something in over the former routine. Someone that adds a challenge to the mix with a growth mentality and a future to boot.

Not sure with Dabo that’s it’s necessarily a trigger because of the record. If he has some early departures which has already started I think he tries to fill some holes if they have not gotten what they need in normal recruiting. I just don’t believe in the big picture he abandons solid recruiting and development. In the current landscape the portal is a good way to possibly stay more competitive in the years when you may be young at key positions or have unforeseen changes in your roster.

Well, if any are it’s probably the ones who defended Dabo for not using it.They said there were not any good players in it. A million excuses….now they will feel betrayed that Dabo is using it and they look stupid. As well as having to admit Dabo was wrong in taking so long to get with the program

No one was saying there were not good players in there. You have to figure a majority of really good ones already know where they are going was the point. We have had guys portal do you think they were contributing? Lot of those in there could not make it where they were. If he needed to use the portal he said he would. Not sure why there is division on this when there should not be. If some folks want Dabo to build a team with portal players Clemson may not be their team. He will go after obvious needs. That’s where it’s at right now. Could be 1, could be 5 who knows what is going on behind closed doors.

I look at this way. The average players that enter the portal will be the same players they were at a new school. If they were All-Conference or All-American, then they're just after the money. Sometimes too much money makes you fat, dumb and happy with no need to care and sometimes it's a motivator. It's hard to tell what's in their head until they're in the fold and that may be too late.
I hope all the transfers the Tigers can get are motivated.

The portal didn't doom Clemson but maybe a couple of good linemen and receivers could have helped turn a couple of games around. We'll never know but it doesn't stop you from wondering.

I am assuming that, but there certainly has been no indication to the contrary, and usually those things don't stay hidden very long and there is no reason to hide them in the first place. We usually always here when offers are going out, just like we are now.

Don't waste your time. Everyone sees it, very few are going to admit it. All I care abt is Dabo understands he has to adapt...and is doing so. Just like Summer OV where he did a 180---to his credit.
