Does anyone know when Dabo started carrying the play sheet?

I assumed it was the first game Jeff Scott was not there. Wasn't Scott's last game the Natty against LSU? I briefly watched some footage of that game last week and I thought it looked like he had it then too?
Unless it's just a well placed hoax to put off sign stealers he has got to give it up. If he truly has been calling a significant portion of these plays it is just as big a problem as the inexperienced assistants.
I think it is pretty clear that this is the case.

My recollection is that he has always had a play sheet, even when Chad was OC.
He's also always had a small notepad in his pocket that he takes out to make notes on when there is a bad play.
He's on his 4th notepad this year.

Thanks Raider. Well that's a little reassuring. So he was doing that when we had a top offense too.

Many HC’s who designate play calling responsibilities to their OC also carry notepads &/or ‘cards.’ Whether or not those cards are play sheets or something else, who knows?
(?). Was there ever confirmation that the plastic laminated sheet that Dabo carries is indeed a play card?

Yep. I just looked at the opener vs Troy in 2011 and he had it then and before like you said. I really thought that debuted when Scott left.

It looks like he is trying to decide if he wants his hash browns scattered, smothered, covered or chunked.

I think that Dabo has always had a say-so in the play-calling, but in our successful seasons it worked out because we had the playmakers and better position coaches to win the games. Hence, the “Clemson Offense” he referred to prior to the Duke game. Now, reality has caught up to him due to lack of coaching experience of his position coaches and lack of development of his players.

Plus, a lot of the responsibility was on Deshaun and Trevor.

They had a lot of RPO opportunities, and also had the freedom to change the play if they saw something on the field.
I don't believe DJ or Cade were given nearly as much freedom.

This comment is rather frustrating, given the the infamous pass on 3rd down against Florida St. was an RPO, so obviously Klubnik has, or was given quite a bit of freedom.

I didn't say that Cade or DJ weren't given any freedom.
What I said was that they weren't given nearly as much freedom as Deshaun and Trevor. Which is true.

According to my memory, since he took over as HC

He’s always had that a sheet of offensive plays with him and looked at it throughout the game. Not sure when he actually got involved with calling plays. Dabo has said in the past that he was part of the playcalling process with Elliott and Streeter.

Probably the day he became the HEAD COACH. Some of you seem to forget or have never really accepted the fact that he is the boss. The man in charge, the chief, head honcho, CEO, whatever else you want to call it. In my world he's known as the guy that signs the checks. I do what he says or I can move on or he can facilitate my moving on. It's that simple. Coaches call plays, players are expected to execute. He also has a boss that he answers to. Until that boss speaks up or steps in please stop with the nonsense of questioning his involvement with HIS TEAM. Go Tigers!

So by that logic, are you also okay with Graham Neff

being heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of our football program?
After all, he's Dabo's boss.

Caring about Dabo carrying a play sheet is a pretty good litmus test for whether one is or isn’t a ####.

Is the thought that people don’t talk in organizations when they make decisions?
It well documented that Jeff Scott brought up Orange Crush for second natty? I mean Dabo and Riley probably talk during the game don’t ya think?
