D Day

If it were 1944, at this exact time of 8:24 pm in Normandy…

It’d be a miracle if you were alive

Think about having to accept the fact, about to get off the boat, that you’re already gone.

So while you’re innocently watching TV in your den tonight, in a comfortably air conditioned house and an easy life….

Think about how lucky you are

I made it thru 2 tours in Nam; I know how lucky I am. I thank the Good Lord everyday too for making it home in almost one piece.

The I truly I cannot comprehend that kind of courage

You deserve a life in peace, and I hope it has been that and will continue to be

If it were, my dad would be preparing to land on Omaha beach in 2 more days. Then his 165th Combat Engineering battalion will lead Patton across France and into Germany building bridges under fire all the way. I am lucky and he was lucky that God has blessed us both.

I have most profound respect and honor for him and your whole family. And anyone that cared for him that had to endure him being there.

I know that General Patton died in a car accident on December 21st, 1945 while still in Germany. Closely after the war had ended. That is tragic.

On D + 1, June 7th my Dad and his co-pilot were towed across the English Channel in their Waco CG 4A glider where they crashed into the roof of a French farm house. All on board survived. They were all heroes!

Thanks to the Greatest Generation!

One of my favorite planes, definitely vital for moving things back and forth

Also glad that everyone survived. They are indeed all heroes.
