The 101st Airborne had already parachuted in by this time 81 years ago and the amphibious invasion was about to begin.

I’m thankful for those who embarked on this great mission thereby securing the freedoms that millions have enjoyed.

Everyone should reflect for even a brief moment on one of the most consequential days of western civilization.

It was the right thing to do, and it was a monumental task.

I had a lot of great uncles in that war, in Europe and Japan.

We all owe the soldiers who fought for America in WWII a world of gratitude. Without them, we would not have the freedoms we so sadly take for granted.

Without D-Day the USSR would have taken over majority of continental Europe

Maybe Italy would have been spared being taken over by the USSR, because by D-Day the Brits and Americans had captured enough of Italy to have been able to take over the rest of Italy before the USSR walked into Netherlands, Belgium, and France.

Spain, Portugal, Norway, maybe Sweden, maybe Switzerland would have also been spared fates as satellites of the USSR.

Arguably, D-Day was the single most important event in history since the early 1800’s.

America’s magnificent gift to the civilized world, on the backs and via the blood of a bunch of Americans from all segments of society.

How many of today's Gen Z/alpha snowflakes would have charged the beach in the face of German fire? We'd all be using the Rosetta Stone to learn German.
