Dumb post. Texas was still an elite team. Oklahoma was just better during that time. And Texas brought in a bunch of superstars from other teams through the portal to fix their weaknesses.

One common denominator with those teams is they have uber wealthy alums that can straight up fund a top end roster. I’m not talking about North FL $, I’m talking about three comma money. $ is not everything, but it doesn’t hurt.

(most recently got their doors blown off at home by Georgia)in their 2nd year as an SEC member(performed as most predicted) with
what the colossal powerhouse of college football SMU has done after being picked up last second by the ACC? Some drugs should not be mixed..synthetic opioids and hallucinogens w/ black tar for example

That’s kinda misleading though. SMU was a very good and ranked football team last year. Anyone who’s paid attention knows SMU was quickly rebuilding to national prominence the last few years. You have to look at the power 5 teams they were playing; it wasn’t SC or UNC. It was legit blue blood programs they were losing to. I honestly believe they would have boat raced BC in the bowl if most of their starters hadn’t opted out of the Wasabi Bowl.

They brought a lot of portal transfers from power 5 schools. That helped.

Combination of a few things….first a lot of those games were paycheck games against good teams or rivalry games against TCU. Secondly, they have been improving their program over the last few years - money isn’t an issue for SMU. 3rd the football “world” has shifted - OU beat them last year but not sure they would this, BC beat them year and play them again Saturday. Finally to get to 9 power 5 games you have to go back several years and you numbers aren’t quite right:
‘23 - TCU, OU, and BC
‘22 - TCU and Maryland
‘21 - TCU (W)
‘20 - no P5 games
‘19 - TCU (W)
‘18 - Michigan, TCU

SMU and Indiana are similar, because they haven't beaten anybody. That all changes when Indiana gets mauled by Ohio State, and Somewhere along the line, SMU's gonna lose. Miami lost, and no one thought they would. It's been a very strange season.
