corn on the grill 3 ways

cooked corn on the grill 3 different ways this past weekend:
1. Corn husk and all directly on the coals 2. Husked corn in alum foil directly on the coals 3. Husked corn on the grill rack
Husked corn in alum foil directly on the coals was best by a mile. Some of the kernels were slightly charred and corn was juicy. Wood eat again.
Husked corn on the grill rack was not bad. About the same amount of charred kernels as the alum foil version but not as juicy. Wood be OK if no alum foil handy.
The corn still in the husk was a failure. Corn was difficult to husk and messy. There was a portion that was overcooked. Maybe if I rotated the husk more often or limited the cooking time it would have been better, but the husking issue would still remain.

In foil is best for seasoning but...

I'm surprised you had a hard time removing the husk and silk from the grilled corn. If you chop off the bottom end and pinch the top, holding the husk and silk in place, you can typically squeeze the ear of corn out clean. But yeah, you're right, seasoned corn in foil is delish.

corn in the husk on the grate...here is how

peel the corn like a banana leaving he husks attached at the bottom.
Silk the corn
Add any seasoning you want to the cob if desired.
replace the husks up the "shaft" of the cob
I have usually soaked the corn in water so the husks are wet.
cook on grate.
the moisture steams the corn in the husks and doesnt get the black burned spots.
Oh, but we dont eat a lot of corn anymore. My kids HATE any kind of corn, always have. It makes my oldest son puke

After de-silking, slather corn with butter, then add seasoning and re-cover corn with husks. Wrap each ear in aluminum foil. Twist the foil tightly on one end of the corn, and fold up the lengthwise seam tightly, creating a seal. Leaving one end open, pour a little beer in and twist to seal this end up as well. Then place on grill to cook. Drink whatever beer is left.

I can see the silk was removed.
After much research, I'm convinced microwave is best, it's just too easy. Second to that would be grilling naked ears, but it burns so easy.
