were told in exit interviews that their starting jobs next year were not a guarantee and would be an open competition and the best player that won the job would start.
Collins in particular did not like that he would be a senior but having an open competition with the 2 incoming freshmen wrs.
I appreciate them and have loved seeing them play as Tigers. I wish them success with their new team, unless playing Clemson. I am also excited about the infusion of young talent already on campus and also that will be arriving this offseason.

there's just a lot on this team that are riding on the coattails of what those before have done.
I always liked Dabo's old way, but they took advantage of Dabo's starting Upper Classmen and NO Portal Policy.
Many on this board, myself included, have been cheering the Freshman Movement. This is the result of that.

That is not something these young people understand! If it is worth having it is worth fighting for, if it is something you covet but so do others, then you have to fight for it. They want it given to them!

endzone and was almost caught from behind(easily could have been ANOTHER fumble at the goal line) before diving and getting the TD. Now, I most likely could have lived with that mishap, until HE GOT UP AND DID THE "BEAUX TIME" tap on his wrist....I guess "Beaux Time" means half speed.....I wish him well, but I think someone will step up and and make up his 510 yards and 3 TD's. I bet at least one of the two incomers does that, and hopefully BOTH.

If you want a guarantee as a starter and don’t want to compete for your position then good bye. That attitude is really going to work well for you on your next team or the NFL. Both have underperformed as of late in my opinion. Thanks for this information as it makes it easier to let them go.

When I hear that this is the reason players are entering the portal, I couldn't be happier to have Dabo as our coach . No doubt about it, the man is a straight shooter and is telling everyone that their jobs will have to earned on the merit of their play, not their seniority status....if that threatens you, good luck somewhere else

None of us know the reasons behind these kids leaving. I truly believe they wanted a fresh start with $$$ to boot , I doubt Dabo told them to start looking around. I expect several key contributors to be gone and a very Inexperienced team starting with Georgia next year can be a tough one. We need to get some players with experience out of the portal. Most teams are offering some of these good players immediately and Clemson has only been mentioned one time. Don’t count on all the freshmen to be contributors. We have had several that didn’t pan out

What do you mean no one knows the reason they are leaving? Colberttiger posted why they are leaving and I have zero reason not to believe it. To my knowledge he has been very credible with the information that he posts on here

He’s dead on as was mentioned earlier, I said punning but it’s more of a selection process to who belongs & contributes with leadership.
They have to earn it. The whole process is changing quickly and Dabo is taking it as a challenge for sure.

I don't want a bunch of losers scared of proving themselves. If you want something handed to you then by all means hit the door. I would bet it's more about money than winning your position. Either way I won't miss any of you anyway. Next MEN up!

Muk isn't all abt the $$$. He, and others around him, feel like they want to revisit and see what could have been.....
I've told ppl on here Dabo is changing...and that includes the NIL and portal. Specifically, but not including all changes:
-Putting forth legitimate effort to use portal to lightly sprinkle in for holes like our peers. -The days of only using NIL on existing players has ended. -Realizing that while our culture is amazing, it isn't going to stop top-end kids from leaving. -Dabo will never run off kids (a good thing), but you are going to get more of a competitive model installed that is more Saban/Kirby-like w/o running off the kid. Not surprised to learn of upperclassmen being told they will have to compete for their spots.
Also, CLEM has enough $$$, when they don't chase to keep a kid, it'll usually be b/c they don't view him as an absolute necessity. When ppl say CLEM can't afford to pay, etc....they have no idea what they are talking about. Doesn't mean there aren't challenges, but soon, even the challenges will fade mostly.
We are in a great spot to combine what worked well in the past with what works now/and into the future. The beginning of these changes were started a while back, way before the silly divisiveness of the whole Tyler debacle. Clemson's NIL & portal plans and future conference affiliation are all in great spots....
Listen to your coach.......he isn't going to admit to things...but he does hint quite a bit. Watch what actually is happening....

Why is this breaking news and new. Dabo has never told a player they would start. He's always said that from week to week. He's also stated repeatedly that it doesn't matter who runs out first.

has been that the older player gets the job but I think that he sees that he can't keep everyone happy and transfers will happen no matter what and he's letting everyone know that no job is safe, even kids who are not yet on campus will start if they win the job next year.

Exactly. I would add Dabo FINALLY realizes the same kids he has been trying to protect (kids already in program) are bailing on him despite great culture and treating them like GOLD.

It should be that way every year. This is part of the problem with this generation of kids that want guarantees. They don’t want to work hard for success. They want it handed to them and right now. These kids want money, flashy cars, hot girlfriends, fans pushing others out of the way to meet them. These enabled spoiled lazy kids have learned quite well from some of our greedy generation.
I can just imagine some former players who entered the TP tell the other players at his new school what his former school was like. While getting his (2nd or 3rd chance) courtesy of the TP. He may say to other players at his new school (I started to use the word teammates but that word just does not mean much anymore). He tells them don’t go to that school. The coaches expect to much from you. You actually have to earn your playing time, go to class and actually learn and get an education while you are there. The coaches at my former school actually want and expect me to be a successful person when I graduate.
I came to your school because I can make a lot more NIL money and if things don’t work out I can always hit the TP again. Your coach doesn’t have 2 a day practices and they aren’t as strict as my last coaches. Man at my last school they actually expected me earn playing time, show respect to others and act like a teammate.
At my old school they talked about love for each other, the importance of family, and were actually focused about my future after football. They actually were more invested in my degree than I was. I transferred to this shop because some folks here told me that they would make sure I made more NIL money and get more playing time. You see I want it now. Those other coaches told me I would Earn it over time. But I don’t want to wait I want immediate success and $$$$$$$ now. I want a flashy car so I can get chics.
Obviously this is not how every kid that goes through the TP. But to some degree it may be fairly accurate. Unfortunately, I believe that more and more kids and parents are selling out for pure GREED !!!

Thanks for keeping many informed. But it’s kind of sad that kid are being given such easy outs when life does not go exactly the way they want. Today’s kids need to learn to adapt to an ever changing environment or they will find themselves in difficult situations in life that they are unable to cope with. Teaching kids to learn to adapt in life has been one of the things that has made our program successful. Now kids have a way out, the TP.
An example is Tavien Feaster. IMO he would have been much better off in this stage of his life if he had not transferred out. Especially to the coots under Will Muschump. Bo Collins I believe is making a huge mistake by leaving Clemson. I don’t believe he is NFL talent it he may make a good coach. Dabo would be willing to help with his career unless he leaves.
Sadly the NCAA does not care about these kids. Do you have any kind of Data Colberttiger as to the success and failure rate of the 400 plus kids who have entered the portal and landed successfully at another school ???

Mukuba would be a life long legend at Clemson had he come back and played to his potential & he would have made some money.
I believe he already had an offer.

Things seemed to be more difficult than they had to be. There was a vibe that I couldn't quite place. And that was on both offense and defense.
But I guess losing 4 would do that. Winning out certainly changed things for the better.
Maybe pruning season is a good thing, but it would be great if we knew sure thing replacements were coming in quickly.
