Clemson news release...

CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson women’s basketball will head to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to play Alabama in the 3rd annual 2025 ACC/SEC Challenge, ESPN and the league offices announced today. The matchup is scheduled for Dec. 4 in Coleman Coliseum with time and network to be determined at a later date.

The teams have met eight times previously, with Alabama holding a 6-2 advantage in the all-time series, including a win last season at the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Fla.

Shawn Poppie will begin his second season at the helm of the program after a record-setting first season in town. The Tigers set program records for three-pointers (228), fewest turnovers (438), and best assist-to-turnover ratio (1.08) in picking up 14 wins, including two over top-20 opponents and a win in the ACC Tournament.

Clemson’s roster for 2025-26 will feature a mix of familiar faces and impact newcomers. Mia Moore (10.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg) is the team’s returning leading scorer, while Hannah Kohn (9.2 ppg) hit 79 three-pointers in her sophomore season, one shy of the school record. Raven Thompson, who made eight starts and appeared in all 31 games, is also back.

The Tigers signed one of the nation’s top transfer classes in adding two-time Big South Player of the Year Rachael Rose (Wofford), All-MAAC selection Morgan Lee (12.6 ppg, 7.7 rpg at Marist), Hadley Periman (8.6 ppg, 8.9 rpg at Tulsa), Demeara Hinds (9.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg at Wake Forest), Taylor Johnson-Matthews (14.5 ppg at DePaul) and Rusne Augustinaite (Georgia Tech). Clemson also added top-100 freshmen Ja’Kerra Butler (Douglasville, Ga.), Holland Harris (Orlando), and Amaia Jackson (Rochester, N.Y.).

Both men’s and women’s Challenge events will feature games across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACC Network and SEC Network.
