I, for one, like the idea of playing Notre Dame every year. However, I would rather they be considered a confrence game, thereby we could continue to have 4 non confrence games. But that's not likely. With us playing Notre Dame and South Carolina every season, we now have only 2 non confrence unscheduled games per year. And it's unlikely we would use those to play an additional SEC program. So is this goodbye to playing LSU, A&M, Georgia, Auburn, and anyone else from the SEC in the regular season? I really hope not. 🏈

That is the only way to get decent to top tier non-conference opponents consistently year after year
Clemson is serious about football....but we're going to have to step that up several more notches to play different people and for it to mean something. Like I said.....Its playoffs or have a trashy season

That's what is coming. The regular season schedule is going to become stale with no variety other than seeing different ACC cupcakes every few years. Amazing the hold the Irish part timers have over this conference.

Notre Dame is probably a top-5 most viewed program on television last 10 seasons plus they draw eyes all over the nation. I’d guess the only brands that attract more eyes are Bama, Ohio State, UGA, Michigan. Texas and Tennessee are on the rise and may be knocking on the door.
Ultimately, this is a decade of good football matchups with a historic program, it will maximize our ACC revenue share and it makes us an attractive program for future expansion. Seems like a home run for us.

If we are so concerned about football ratings then why don't we drop the Group of 5 game or mid major opponent on our schedule every year for a Power 4 opponent.
We don't need ND. UGA-Clemson got big ratings last year- LSU-Clemson will get huge ratings this year.

We can play ND, SC, and another BIG/SEC team and still win the ACC even if we lose all of those and get in playoffs. I say do it!!!

My feeling is that's not happening. ND will replace the other P4 opponent on our schedule not named SC. The same two big OOC opponents (ND,SC)on our schedule every year will get stale and boring. I'm already bored with playing ND and loved the break with UGA last year and LSU this year.

The SEC and B1G are working on cross-conference games for every season over the next 12-15 yrs. B1G wants SEC to have 9 conference games like they have. If the SEC agrees to 9 conference games games and 1 game vs. B1G each season they are are going to play 2 cupcakes. The SEC isn’t scheduling any power 4 until this is worked out.

This is pretty much how I feel. I've liked having the regular season matchups vs LSU, Auburn, A&M, Georgia, etc. I love the prospect of playing Notre Dame yearly, I just wish it didn't have to come at the cost of those other games. But here's the thing: with the SEC looking likely to go to 9 conference games + a noncon partnership with the BIG10, rumors are that they may be canceling any other big-time noncon matchups because of how loaded their schedules would be at that point. So this was a smart move by Neff and co. being aggressive instead of waiting around at the mercy of these SEC teams to decide whether or not they'd actually like to play us like they agreed to. This way we don't get the rug pulled out from under us. I hope we still get to play Georgia, Oklahoma, and other SEC teams in the future in the regular season, but this way we're covered if they decide to stand us up.
