Clemson off a BYE, since 2021

In 2021…came off a bye to win at Syracuse by 3 points.

In 2022…blown out at Notre Dame.

In 2023…loss at a not very good Miami team.

In 2024…blown out by Louisville at home.

* I know we had another ‘bye’ after week 2 this year, between App & NCSU, but this is a concerning pattern regarding October byes.

There’s something to this…
Then add in ‘extra prep time’ games like the last 2 openers against Duke & UGA….and the Orange Bowl against Tenn…and even the barely skating by Kentucky last season in the bowl game. Need to re-consider some things with how we prepare.

Pathetic. Like what are we doing? That’s 100% a culture problem if you’re not absolutely locked in at this point in the season.

This is all coaching. It’s not like there are players who are better off byes than others. Recruiting, portal usage… if the coaches don’t know how to prepare and make in-game adjustments it won’t matter who we get for players.

Funny thing is, this makes me think our players are good enough. Wonder what our record is on short weeks over the same time frame. Less preparation by the coaches, the more they just go play football. Embarrassing.
