I heard something similar on Mickey Plyler's show this morning. Can someone more knowledgeable than me summarize how many people from last year's team they're losing to the draft and portal?
I know, let's focus on Clemson, but those numbers sounded almost unreal.

I heard an interesting take on this last night.

It was stated as a fact, but I cannot verify it as truth. So, I'll just post what I heard here as interesting and it would explain a lot if true.
Here is what I heard.
The way Bama set up it's collective was "It runs through Saban. Without Saban, there are no contracts. So, the players have lost their NIL deals and aren't sure if they will ever get them back."
It was unclear what the speaker was talking about but the best I could understand it was that people were giving to the collective and Saban was promises in return. Something like this (used only as an example by me, this specific example was not used by the speaker. It is just how I understood what was meant.) "Bojangles gives a deal to an athlete for X dollars. Part of the agreement is Saban will appear in a certain number of commercials with the athlete. With Saban gone, the deal is also gone."
Didn't make sense to me, but it is interesting. If somehow the deals were contingent on Saban being the HC, or if somehow he controlled the deals....

NIL and he had set it up where every incoming freshman basically got the same NIL deal. No one was worth more than another player.
After they played a year, they could then earn more money based on performance, name, image and likeness.
The players were willing to give up some NIL to play for Saban because they knew it would come back in long run.
Now that he is gone, these guys are bolting for more money as the tampering is ongoing.

Brett, I did not think that school employees could be directly involved with allocating NIL money to players. I understand that it probably happens, I thought the schools involvement was limited to reviewing deals that collectives offered to players , assisting with tax liabilities, and the like. Did I dream that ?
