...Soco Rd over to Hwy 441 via Maggie Valley? The wife and I have a cabin rented in Gatlinburg for 40th anniversary in August and I can't seem to find any information for road closures via the google machine. We'll be traveling up I-26 from the Upstate, then I-40 west and taking the Hwy 74 exit toward Lake Junaluska, then through Maggie Valley to get on the Parkway, then taking 441 into Gatlinburg.

Yes, the wife and I drove it just 2 weeks ago. We got on the BRP at 441 (had to wait for the elk to get out of the way) and drove past Soco Rd and got off at Hwy 276 and went into Brevard for lunch.

The rockslide has closed I-40 for a while, but the Parkway should be open. Hopefully the trucks will stay off of it...

No commercial vehicles allowed on BRP, they usually enforce it hard but I'm sure they make exceptions for road closures. Interesting to see 18 wheelers try and navigate US 129 (the dragon) when their GPS sends them that way. Only the most skilled drivers can make it, bad thing is when a pud tries, it will be closed for hours. I'm usually on a scooter(HD) and can squeeze by.
