Crazy how this has happened in multiple sports from Clemson to SC yet I don’t think there is a single example of it happening in the reverse.

Clemson and SC are light years apart as programs in men’s soccer. They haven’t made the tournament in forever

if you can't cut it, you can't cut it. Of course they need to take a step down.

I would just think there are better places to drop down to rather than that #### hole.

Must have had some bad news on playing time for next season. Only reasonable explanation. Like someone previously mentioned these 2 programs are not currently comparable.

I hope that's the case. Maybe one of the freshmen jumped him in spring workouts/scrimmages or we have an incoming transfer forward that hasn't been announced yet.

Yeah, it's almost certainly about playing time, though I'll admit this one surprised me. Trim has been a fan-favorite and one of the most recognizable faces of the team the past couple years, especially being a local guy. He's far from the most talented, but he's very energetic. That being said, he was certainly in the rotation last season at forward. He didn't normally start, but he was one of the first sub options, and he got pretty good playing time. Looking at the roster, Illuminato and Meinhard have exhausted their eligibility (as best I know), so they should be gone. But Gyan, Musah, and Yoshizawa should all be returning. Plus, there are some elite incoming freshmen: Agyabeng, who was Gyan's high school teammate at St. Benedict's, and Mane, who is the latest addition to the long list of star Clemson prospects from Monteverde Academy. With the soccer team, it's tough to know exactly who's going to end up in what position until we actually see it, but the point is, all 5 of those guys have an insane offensive skillset. Trim is a nice player, but respectfully, he's just not comparable to the other 5 guys I mentioned. And Musah and Gyan were only freshmen last year. So in all likelihood, it's a playing time thing. That on its own is understandable. But choosing South Carolina is another thing. I get that he's an in-state kid, and I know Noonan has a good relationship with Tony Annan, but still. Seems like a slap in the face after the battles he's already been a part of. Plus, like with Nawrocki, he's an emotional guy who started a lot of stuff, so that makes it even more confounding. He was also on a national championship team, kind of like with Feaster. But that certainly didn't make us feel better about him, and I doubt it will with Trim either. One thing's for sure, it'll make for an interesting day at Riggs this fall whenever that game ends up being.

In fairness, Clemson's very crowded at goalkeeper. They actually had 5 on the roster last season, with Andema being the obvious #1 as one of the best keepers in the country. I do believe this season was Donovan's last, so that would open up 1 of those spots. But as far as I know, Andema is still planning to return. Now, we did see him suffer a significant leg injury late last season (ACL if I'm not mistaken), so I'm not sure what his timeline for a return would be in terms of health. But we know when he's healthy, he's the virtually unquestioned starter. That still leaves senior Hampton and sophomore Reed behind Andema on the depth chart as well, so you know it's gonna be a tough path to playing time. You hate to lose anybody, but I don't think we can really blame Brown for wanting a shot to get on the field going into his junior season.

She's competing with the team at ACC Championships right now, actually. And I'm certainly glad they were able to land her; she's been outstanding. One of the bigger transfers in the country. I think one of the main reasons for this one was that she has a good relationship with Tiger sophomore Gladys Chepngetich (both from Kenya), so this may be a special situation. Clemson has some other Kenyan track athletes as well. Either way, I'm glad she's a Tiger. She played a massive part in the Indoor ACC Championship this year.

They come to Clemson to win. Win. Then go fleece the gamecock boosters and Nils to financially prepare themselves for life after college.
