about half way through it. They highlight how this is even more pressing and real for FSU and Clemson because their instate rivals are on the cash cow side of the fence vs. all of the NC/VA schools being in the ACC. They also say that FSU has a spot in the Big10 (but for GOR issue, a minor snag ) and that UNC and UVA would easily have a spot in the either the Big10 and SEC. They also state the league office lost a golden opp to pressure ND into the conference in 2020 with the covid season. Duh.

5 guys all connected to UNC, but media and fans, not administration.
Here are some snippets.
1. FSU has a standing offer from B1G anytime they figure outhow to leave the ACC and break GOR. FSU would prefer SEC, but will move to B1G if tht's their only option.
2. UNC will be welcome to either SEC or B1G whenever they can break GOR.
3. Clemson and FSU are in close communication with each other and on the same page.
4. Notre Dame has no desire to join any conference.
5. ACC is a bunch of idiots, giving ND the right to vote on football matters (expansion) without being a member for football.
6. FSU is leading the charge but several other schools (including Clemson and UNC) will be right behind them when they finally break the door down.
7. Sometime between now and 2036 the whole thing will blow up. a. 60 or so teams will form their own association for football. b. Conferences today will not be the same then. c. Divisions will be split up geographically.
None of them were claiming to have inside information to the point of claiming any of the above are facts. Just 5 guys who follow the situation closely making their reasonable guesses and explaining why they think they make sense.
One guy had a neat expression When asked when he thought UNC should and will leave the conference he said, "First train smokin'."

I think point #7 is the most likely reality...

UNC is the reason we're stuck in this situation

UNC (and other NC schools) have been the controlling interest of the ACC conference for decades. Those jokers should not be rewarded if the conference breaks up.

to implode. They only care about basketball. The more irrelevant basketball becomes, the more irrelevant UNC becomes.

That Virginia is elite and Clemson isn't. I kid you not.

That's probably what they meant, but these huge TV contracts and confrence realignment moves aren't being made because they care about your advanced calculus scores.

I don't agree with point #7

I think conference affiliations are more important than people realize. Because of what's happened the last couple of years and the sudden demise of the Pac 12, the herd mentality is CFB will end up just like the NFL when it comes to alignment.
College presidents and BODs are in control here, not ADs. Conferences have GORs, not individual schools. The B1G is locked in until the 2029/30 season; the SEC until 2033/34. I expect both conferences will remain in control and negotiate new GORs that will last until near 2040.
IMO, very little chance we'll have a 60 school athletic association before 2036. Instead, there will be a ~40 team upper tier (the B1G and SEC) and everyone else after that. The upper tier may end up dominating non-football sports even more than they do now.
My 2 cents.
P.S: Congress could get involved, be heavy-handed and change everything. Not likely, but it's a possible outcome.
