A UGA Take on Clemson Football

Ran into a UGA booster at golf course in Savannah today. He said they (UGA) have a high level of respect and appreciation for Dabo and his high moral standards and ethics.
In comparison to Kirby, who aggressively pursues top high school and college transfer recruits, Dabo has removed Clemson from the battle. UGA no longer has to seriously compete against Clemson for Georgia, South Carolina, Florida or any top-rated players.
They believe Dabo is truly a good man, but that Kirby, as Nick Saban's protege, is the top coach who best understands x's and o's, recruiting and winning.

Probably right. Lane is really good at x's and o's but Georgia kills recruiting.

Kirby is there to win...sorta what you expect for a $11M+ coach.

program in the NIL/portal era & beyond, CDS should emulate what the leg humpers are doing. They are a force to be reckoned with and a model for success. Some of you don’t want to hear that, but it’s the honest truth.
Today, Kirby > Dabo

Dabo should but he won't do it. Just like the Kirby inside kick last night. No way Dabo takes that chance. That is why Kirby much better at the football than Dabo. Game has passed Dabo by.

That’s such an easy and convenient thing to hurl at someone who says something that causes you to be butt hurt, isn’t it champ? You just go on and stick your head back up in there, ok sport?
The grown ups don’t want to cause any more suffering to your tender heart while we discuss things you’re too emotionally unstable for.

Seemed pretty clear to me champ. He supports Dabo over Kirby’s character. Not much easier to put it.

that’s fine… Then Dabo and all of his assistant coaches should cut their salaries by 75%.. IPTAY should cut all their giving levels in half as well as game tickets etc if this is the attitude that’s going to be taken going forward in this world of college football.. sorry… You don’t get to make 11.5 million dollars a year with one of the highest paid coaching staffs in the country and have a 500 record in a weak conference and not go without criticism

No doubt that they out recruit us. Money talks and they have plenty of it.
FWIW, they are basically last in P4 in graduation rate. Probably first in speeding tickets.

Is it that impressive to have a high graduation rate when you automatically pass them?

Sadly, graduating players means nothing in today's college football or to all the media who cover it. Never, ever brought up. It's as if it's not college? Probably because it isn't anymore.

It never was. Do you know the average SAT of a college football player is 420 points below that of their colleagues. They are shepherded into fake majors and classes. They never have to go (I was in a Spanish class with our QB. He came to the first and last class. That's it.). They have tutors help them with all their assignments. Graduation doesn't mean anything for a football player at Clemson. CJ Spiller graduated at Clemson. He went onto have a 10 Wonderlic, which is the score you get my random chance, which means he likely cannot read.

UGA really doesn't add a ton of portal kids... say like Ole Miss. They dont have too..... They use the portal in the wisest way, only to fill gaps--like the top programs do....like WE CAN DO IF WE ONLY DECIDE TO DO IT. To not use it is to knowingly fight a fight with one hand tied behind your back. Taking a very hard game and making it almost impossible to compete with your peers. Its legal........... and contrary to popular belief, being a portal kid doesn't exclusively hurt culture; kids that hurt culture can come from HS, portal, walk-on, etc... That is a false narrative.
The money is there. We are paying kids who contribute little on the field hundreds and hundreds of thousands annually. Once we decide to pay the going rates for 5 stars, and not self-impose rules like freshmen cant make more than upperclassmen, then you will see our hit rate go back up. Right now we are in a self-imposed (by choice) penalty box. Throw in we only offer ± 70 kids a year and you have what you have....

Of course a UGA fan would appreciate our coach for his high morals and values. They have whipped our bums good last few times we have played them except for the close game in Charlotte that we still lost in 21.

Clemson still has a lot of talent....

In fact, if you looked at the ACC in the preseason, Clemson & Miami had the best rosters and it wasn't even close.
I think something is getting lost in the development & preparation. There's no way that a program like Clemson should be down 16-0 to Troy, or getting blown out by Syracuse, or unable to beat Duke even when scoring 45 points. These are not talent deficit issues.
I think Dabo still brings in a competitive roster. For some reason, they're just not putting it all together for 60 minutes in most games. Not sure why, but I'm not getting paid umpteen million to figure it out. That's what Dabo is getting paid to do.
I watched that Louisville game the other night. Clemson played very sloppily. Lots of mistakes. They don't seem like they're improving as the season goes along. That sequence at the Louisville goal-line where they ran two consecutive handoffs to Woods, and it resulted in two straight fumbles....a program that lacks composure comes up with nonsense like that.
Whatever Dabo is doing....it's not working.

I think that’s up in the air because of Dabo likely changing his strategies soon.
I wouldn’t doubt a Georgia affiliate would already have Clemson written off in their minds. Deep down they know Clemson will continue to shine. Tell him Clemson reached 3 national titles before they did.

I went to UGA for Grad school and would always say “well atleast we’ve won a championship in the last 40 years” then they won. So I moved to “well you’ve only won one of them” and then they won back to back and were undefeated. Now we are at 5-5 and fighting for a bowl birth while they’re good once again. There’s nothing a Clemson fan can say at this point.

There’s no perception of a timeline in your head. Other than head-to-head
1980 Georgia 1981 Clemson
2015 Championship Appearance (Bama, Nick Saban) 2016 Clemson (Against Nick Saban) 2018 Clemson (Against Nick Saban, 44-16) 2019: Championship appearance
2021 Georgia 2022 Georgia (Against TCU with Garrett Riley😂 well done)
Clemson: 3/5 on Natty appearances Georgia: 3/3 on Natty appearances.
Don’t bring up 1942
Given what AFDAWG® buddy said about, “Dabo removing Clemson from the battle”, apparently Dabo can put Clemson right back into the battle
Let’s think about how Clemson would be this year, or any of the previous years, if Dabo had conformed to CFB when and how Kirby did. But Clemson has every bit of potential to be what it was, through simply adjusting.
I can go on all day y’all

Kind of like Danny Ford did. I think Kirby's recruiting tactics are garbage, but Dabo and Co need to take a page from Kirby on coaching up ruthless, paid assassins, not nice role models.

If Dabo changes his strategies on NIL, portal, maintaining ‘culture’ blah, blah … and that’s a big ‘if’ bc after Louisville he may be falling in love with his reflection again. Listen closely to his comments after that win.
I digress… if he changes his strategies it may be too late to catch lightning in a bottle again since half the ACC has kept ahead. Looking forward to this offseason 🍿👀
