Politically difficult?

Feb 10, 2021, 4:13 AM

Like the $2400 checks? Higher minimum wage? Living wage? Men playing women's sports?

No. Sadly neither party is touching the really politically difficult issues. But the Dems sure own the politically easy ones.

couple years ago.

“He’s now president for life. President for life. No, he’s great. And look, he was able to do that. I think it’s great. Maybe we’ll have to give that a shot some day.”

So on the one hand, you have the leader of the democratic republic that is the USA, longing for an autocracy in which he could rule for life, a mere 3 years ago. On the other hand, you have some guy named Thomas...Friedman, or something, saying something in an article 12 years ago.

Typical out of context BS. This is the reason you people are so screwed up.

Oh, let me guess:

he was just kidding around.

He said it. Please provide the context for what he said, and make it not sound like he was envious of what Xi was able to do in China regarding the power of his position.

Hold up...

Feb 10, 2021, 8:03 AM

Are we going to pretend that Trumpophiles haven't been calling for a one-party system for a few years now? Didn't Trump himself support China's autocratic system and call for it here?

The only people I've seen lately supporting China's system of government (as in authoritarian autocracy, not communism) are coming out of the Trump camp.

So no denial what they are doing or that it is wrong...

Just an assertion that the other guys did it first. Great. SMH.

Feb 10, 2021, 10:22 AM

Second, there's no "they". T3 posted one guy's wrong opinion from 2009. That's it.

Third, the current problem with supporting authoritarianism rests with the pro-Trump crowd. We are just a few weeks removed from a crowd of them trying to secure him as a dictator.

You yourself have your own infamous post where you called for a one-party authoritarian system.

Wahoo...so one of your anti-intellectuals in Foxworld dug up some Marxist opinion drek on the Times from 11 years ago...and are using it to shamelessly represent the thinking of the Dem mind.

I'll give Joe his due so far. He's done just enough to placate the left while pretty much driving straight down the center lane with the exception of killing that Keystone XL pipeline, which I do not personally agree with. Yes, we've got a looming climate crisis. Yes, we've got to go greener. Yes, there's significant environmental concerns. We also need that crude and our economy needs it as well.

Here is also the fallacy of the argument.

Feb 10, 2021, 8:18 AM

One person, Thomas Friedman (who is a mixed bag of intellectualism and blowhard, depending on the situation), a man who has often times echoed conservative and Republican sentiment in the same breath as Democratic, writes an opinion that, I think we can all agree, is a pretty silly one. It's hardly a representative of the "Dem mind" as you aren't seeing a massive rally behind Friedman's ideology.

Trump, on the other hand, echoed similar sentiments, and his base continued to rally around him and excuse such behavior. They supported the idea of Trump maintaining power even after he had lost it. And then, you know, Jan. 6.

If anything, the "Trump mind" is the one that has wanted an autocratic one-party system.

T3,

If you think that you can accurately describe the Democratic mindset at all, y

If you think that you can do it in two sentences from Thomas Flippin' Freidman, you are delusional.

Republicans have done far more to consolidate their power (gerrymandering, voter suppression, court packing) than the Dems have over the last decade or two.

If you think you can accurately represent the Democratic mindset at all, you have never been to a democratic Party meeting. It is like herding cats in a tornado.

Feb 10, 2021, 10:13 AM

The collective democratic mindset is what is taking down the country. Look at the time, effort, and energy spent on non-sense. Pronouns, men playing women's sports, gotta find the extremists in the military ranks, SJW, BLM, thinking the USA can effect climate change and altering the entire economy trying to do so, ...

It goes on and on. The left invented all this BS because of all their varied personality disorders. Granted Trump has enough of that for about 100k individual republicans, but it is different when half the country is in the left looney bin having no idea of the repercussions of what they say and do. No idea...and their minds are so warped by looneys like this guy from the NYT.

This guy is a complete and utter idiot.
