2024 Olympic 100m champ running at Clemson today

I neglected to mention this specifically in my previous post, but I think this deserves a separate announcement regardless. Julien Alfred is competing in the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson today. For those who don't know, she is the one who upset Sha'Carri Richardson to win the gold medal in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She also took silver in the 200. Alfred is from Saint Lucia and used to compete collegiately for Texas.

She's running in section 4 of the orange section of the 400 meters today, which gets underway at 3:10 PM. Despite her achievements, she still may lack the "star power" of your typical American or Jamaican sprint champs. But regardless, getting to see the reigning Olympic 100 meter champion run in a Clemson track meet, less than a year out from the Olympics no less, is really rare and special.

I wanted to throw that out there because I hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere else, and I don't think many people were aware of it. This is something significant enough that I thought people might like to know about it.
