10 item or less check out line?

Usually the problem is someone ahead of you with a full buggy and cashier says nothing. Today, I make a quick stop for 9 things and entered the lane and heard “10 items or less!!!!” but didn’t know it was directed towards me until I made eye contact with the girl who repeated it a little louder. I leaned over my buggy and pointed to each item and said “ I got 9” - she looked a little irritated but I wondered how many full buggies she had checked out before I got there.

Imagine if she had called the cops and you ended up in prison and word gets around your “that guy who ran the 10 item or less scam”. You could walk around like you owned the joint

That would be all fine and good until you met up with the guy that tore the tag off his mattress!

She was thinking you have 9, why come through here when you can do Self Checkout and only pay for 7? She whispered, its cheaper over there, bunch other yahoos do it everyday.

Check out lines go one way. At the Pig in Chesterfield, you're in line to check out and so many walk through the line going the other way. I will purposely block the line and make it more difficult passing. Why? Because it's one way. I go around so why can't you?

So many feel they’re entitled or “special” and the rules of normalcy do not apply to them. It happens everywhere ..

Why give 10 item shoppers special treatment? Everyone is in a hurry. The full buggy shoppers won't be back soon and the grocery makes a lot more money off a full buggy customer than a ten item mini-shopper.
More power to big buggy shoppers!
Make the ten item shoppers get in the "Old Women Shopper Line for check writers."

I'm not sure. The 10 item shopper will return more often and usually over the same period of time spend the same amount. I imagine impulse buys come into play. The 10 item shopper is exposed to the temptations of endcaps and candy at checkout more often.
Also, I write my checks slowly so I give the checkout clerk enough time to gather my S&H green stamps. You're welcome.

you buy ten or a hundred items. The purpose of my reply was people will walk through a line going opposite the intended flow of traffic. I go around why can't they?

Earlier this week as I was approaching the 10 item or less line, a couple with around 20 items quickly cut in front of me changing from the regular checkout line because it was extremely long to the 10 items or less line. I typically let these things slide but that was too many items for this line. So just as I was about to tell them GTFO, I realized they split their order up so she checked out with around 10 items and once she was rung up, he checked out with the remaining 10 items.
I was still annoyed but had to admire their ingenuity.

I was at the self checkout at Walmart with my daughter one day and there were two young women across from us with two buggies crammed full of grocery and other items. They were scanning about every third item, if that. We left before they did and I slow walked to my car just to see where they went. They never came out, so I am guessing that they got caught ....... hope so anyway.
I also heard that the Winnsboro Walmart had to close due to the extraordinary losses due to theft.
