Perception

Sep 12, 2021, 5:11 PM

I've often accused the media of basing many of their decisions on perception rather than facts. Now, I find myself doing the same thing. In fact, most of us can plead guilty to the same charge. For example, after FSU's overtime loss to Notre Dame in their first game of the season, my first thought was "if Notre Dame is considered to have an excellent team and defeated FSU by only a field goal, then FSU is on their way back to their glory years". Results of Week 2 of the FSU and Notre Dame games gave me another perspective. "Notre Dame is overrated and the FSU program appears to be in shambles". By the end of the season both teams may show marked improvement or both could be huge disappointments. But you can bet your sweet patootie we will see a lot of perception play a prominent role on the selection of the final four.

It has nothing to do with facts. It's about what fits the narrative!

The great news is that pundits, beat writers, and other assorted idiotic talking heads have ZERO say in the playoff rankings. Enjoy the ride every week. By the way, you can take it to the bank that Iowa will not go undefeated this year.

The SEC and other name schools will have a strong bias and Clemson is not in that discussion. They want Clemson to be gone because we have infringed into their world. Just my opinion.

That's why I refuse to get too high or too low based on one or two games in the season.

So far, all we know is:

1. Alabama is good, as usual.
2. UGA has a great defense.
3. Clemson has a great defense.

After that, everybody is just guessing. Ohio State and Texas A&M are top five teams, (or so we thought.) The PAC 12 can't beat anybody. (Tell that to LSU and Ohio State.) Oklahoma is a lock for the playoffs. (Somebody forgot to tell Tulane.)

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”
