I can't imagine another human being celebrating the coward act of assassinating another human from far away in an attempt not to be known who he was. You can't be any more of a coward than that!!!

I don't care who you are, affiliation with, Creed, favorite team, or favorite color. The man was killed in front of his family. Society should have more temperance or down right decency not to say things I've read. I really had no idea who he was, but that was wrong.

I would suspect they are determining if the social media posts are protected under the 1st Amendment or not. I don’t blame them for taking some time to work through it. I want my Bill of Rights respected regardless of how I feel about what someone said. Firing someone in a few days accomplishes the same as behaving like torch carrying mob hours after something is posted. From what I’ve seen of the social media posts it’s offensive to me, but not it rises to the level of inciting harm. Perhaps falls closer to undermining the dignity of another person.

Hopefully, I am saying the University waited until backlash from professors, and 2 days after to even acknowledge. The president as always is silent and continues to do nothing until criticized or funding is pulled. As a graduate I take pride in being a representative of Clemson. May not agree with people and I am not nearly perfect in any shape or form but being a good human and having core values goes a long way. Feels like we can have a better representation of Our University.

Um...that's not really true. At its inception it restrained the states through the supremacy clause, though that didn't actually enforce constitutional protections being provided by state governments. THAT part changed after the 14th amendment was added and the due process clause led to incorporation doctrine. Slowly the supreme court has "incorporated" rights, which means states are entirely bound by those rights. As of like 80 years ago the entirety of the first amendment is incorporated, meaning state governments have to abide by freedom of speech, assembly, religion, press, etc...

If you want your Bill of Rights respected then I suggest that you buy a firearm if you haven't already. The next step is being willing to die over the bill of rights. I for one am proud of you if you follow these instructions.

Yet when they aren't making these ridiculous posts online we are supposed to believe they are being fair minded with their students? Oh please. Believe me when I tell you, it’s a systematic problem at Clemson.

My daughter sent me a video her Sophomore year at Clemson of one of her professors , who of course, is from California. A Professor Durham who is an absolute nut job and in no way should be at Clemson teaching young people. The woman is crazy and this was before she found out Trump was going to be President.

The administration puts out a message when another Democrat goes off the rails yet continues to employ these whackos. I sent numerous emails to the administration that I was not paying to have my child indoctrinated while in college. There were several of her friends from up north that were shocked at what this woman was saying in the classroom, their parents had sent them down here to get away from that crap.

In my email I told them I didn’t expect a conservative or a liberal to be spending 10 minutes during their class trying to sway students, just teach my child what she needs for her major and that’s all.

President Clements is essentially a man who has had his balls stripped from him in the sake of social justice in my opinion after dealing with him and several others at Clemson

However a lot of people got fired for that they posted during Covid and the BLM riots a few years ago and I don't believe anybody even pretended to give a #### about whether they made those posts at work or not so this seem to be a consistent application of that standard, whether you agree with it or not.

Anyone publicly celebrating or justifying a murder on social media should be subject to repercussions, to include firing, by whatever private or public institution they work for. No matter their political leanings. They have the right to express themselves without being persecuted by the government, but Clemson and other public institutions can choose not to employ such persons for whatever reason.

I pointed out—correctly—that no one incites more political violence than Donald Trump. From his rallies (“knock the crap out of" a protester, “I’ll pay your legal fees”) to Jan. 6 (“be there, will be wild”) to debates (“Proud Boys, stand back and stand by”) to that incendiary message Wednesday night, he does it all the time. And don’t start with the “He didn’t mean it like THAT” nonsense; only an idiot would believe that.

You're right of course. College should be all about the 1st Amendment. Flag burnings. One group denouncing Israel while another group denounces Palestine. Holocaust deniers. Anti-vaxxers. People of science. Etc. It's about taking diverse people and teaching them how to hold conversations with people that have different views. But as we can see with the brigading in here, we're supposed to have homogeneous set of opinions.

When I went to Clemson, they'd bring in speakers from all spectrums. I hated some of them, but I still went and listened. I don't base my hate on sound bites or what some individual says my opinion is supposed to be. I base my hate on what I hear a person say. Yes, I hate people. I hate people who want to wipe negativity of slavery away from school history books. But they have the right to say that. I don't mind, and even am glad when some people die. I cheered when I heard Obama took out Bin Laden.

Today, I am a registered unaffiliated voter. I don't vote based on what a group tells me to. I vote based on who I feel has integrity and doesn't want to infringe on our rights, or set aside parts of our Constitution that soldiers died defending. Clemson helped me foster an ability to think for myself. I appreciate that, and would hope they continue defending the right to free speech for every single student. No neo-McCarthyism. No selecting which side of a debate people on campus are supposed to take. Develop women and men that can think for themselves, who defy hypocrisy, and are open to the idea that things they believe in, may in fact be wrong. When they vote for someone who shows they are not the man they thought, to then vote against them. If Clemson alumni are excuse makers for politicians, put their blinders on when their tenets are disproven, and suppress the right of others to have different views, then Clemson has failed.

If you’ve attended a school orientation in the last decade, they will all tell you student safety is their absolute highest priority. You cannot uphold that principle if you employ people indifferent to the potential death of a large portion of the student body.

If not already in there , need to add a termination clause. You cannot work in public education and post on personal online accounts anything that will make your students feel uncomfortable in your classroom. This is standard for K-12 public school teachers in the south. Educators that want to push any personal agenda need to work in private education.
