EXACT Thing about many other decisions he made that then formulated the team we have now. This is a no win situation, no matter what he does there are consequences. He has to pick his poison and live with outcome.

and the other is a true freshman with a very high ceiling. I know which one I'd be picking.
I trust Dabo to make the right decisions. He has earned that as I mentioned in my original post, but the coach-speak in the offseason regarding DJ just simply wasn't true based on what we saw last night.

but if you think everything that comes out of his mouth regarding DJ and his development, improvement, etc is true and then you see the product on the field and still believe it then that's your problem

I'm more disappointed that he won't go outside the program to hire coaches. Is Tyler Grisham really the best WR coach Clemson can get?

I'm not saying my opinion means anything

but if you think DJ is a practice Hall of Famer and then plays like that in games well...

It's possible he did make tremendous improvements

and I would venture to say that in the absence of....i dunno 4, 5, or 6 drops combined with improved OL play his stats would reflect as such, and the narrative would be different.
I don't think anyone has positioned him as a practice hall of famer.

Possibly....

but he is also, supposedly, playing great and making great decisions in practice against the Clemson defense? The one that looked like the '85 Bears last night? OK...

Just so we’re clear…
Your post declares that, as of last night, you no longer trust Dabo.
Is that correct ?

If you don’t trust Dabo and his staff and you are disappointed with the way things are going the answer is very clear to me. GOODBYE..

This guy post 75 times during the game crying about everything under the sun. He has me blocked kinda funny but no point arguing with him. He has bashed DJ over 1,000 times on here, and whined all about Dabo a good bit.

My prediction is DJ starts up to the NC State game. He plays poorly in the 1H and Cade comes in and leads us to a come-from-behind victory and becomes the starter the rest of the year. At this point, DJ could enter the portal and Hunter Johnson becomes the backup for the rest of the year.

Dabo has managed this before

This isn't the first time Dabo has had to do this. DJ starts against GT because it's a conference road game and he has the experience. That's pretty much a no-brainer. The intent was to get Cade more time but it didn't work out. DJ and Cade both play lots of snaps the next 2 games. By Wake we know what we have in both. I really hope that DJ turns it on and holds on to the spot, but there is no doubt that the energy when Cade came in was entirely different. One drive in trash time does not a QB make, but I think everyone felt the change in the speed and crispness of the offense. My suspicion is that this plays out fairly close to Bryant/Lawrence. I think they are alternating series by LA Tech and NC State is the game where Cade gets to come out first series.
With Bryant, the rule in place allowed him to play 3 games and not lose a year of eligibility, and there was a year sit out. As soon as it was announced that Trevor was going out first for game 4 the writing was on the wall. He had to make a decision after game 3 if he wanted to be able to play again. DJ at least has the option of hanging around to see how it plays out before he decides whether to transfer mid season.

I totally get your point but I think part of the "over-hype" was Dabo trying to raise DJ's confidence and feeling his coach's belief in him. I've also read articles where the media didn't think Dabo was doing enough to support DJ and was hedging his bets. As a coach of a top program with a lot of visibility, it is very difficult to please everyone and keep these young men feeling good about themselves in the wake of all that is being said and written.
I guess that is why we are paying Dabo nearly $100M to manage through it.
