Talk some sense into me please....
Dec 3, 2015, 2:12 PM
|
|
I've been feeling good about Saturday night until I just had some thoughts creep in to my head. Please talk me out of this uneasy feeling I now have (self induced of course).
Thinking back to last year's game, it was more of a shoot out although we maintained a decent lead (10-14) most of the game.
My problem is I think:
UNC has improved on both O and D Last year was in DV Our D last year was better than this year (really only because of depth) We had Mike W playing
I've tried to convince myself that our O is better with Gallman and better run blocking this year, and we can play keep away, long drives and also have big explosive plays. Also that our young skill guys from last year (Gallman, Scott, Thompson) now have more experience.
I just think this game could end of being really tight. Talk me out of believing myself please.

for deer life at the end.
UNC returns everyone from that offense save their te, but back-fill the position with a senior.
did i mention clemson has 10 turnovers in its last 3 games?
i hope some, any or all of this helps?

with 3 mins to play after unc had a 1st & 10 on the cu 15, gave up 28 points in the 2nd half and 500 total yards for the game on top of 22 first downs.
the uga game was in question until about 10 mins left, but the final score wouldn't tell that story.

yards and 2:25 if you'd like, no one including BV was happy with the 2nd half onslaught unc unloosed or clemson jumping out 20-0 and being outscored the rest of the way 35-30 in DV.
... hanging on and the stadium erupting is what went down.

downs the same offense[save a sr. te] put up in DV on a better defense.
personally, win and advance, i'll take a 1 point victory that will give clemson about a month to rest some weary bones before opening up their playoff campaign.

28 2nd half points, ~500 yards & 22 first downs, plus being outscored 35-30 in the last ~3 quarters.
again, it's OK that clemson intercepted a pass in the end zone to hang on for deer life after surviving unc's onslaught in DV.
i imagine both team's will use the tape to build off of coming into this showdown.

That completley changed the mentality of the game for us. It sent a message to our team that we were up big enough to hold them off and we lost our edge.

If we play a complete game...
Dec 3, 2015, 3:36 PM
|
|
No mental lapses, good special teams, no turnovers, no leaving points on the field and a complete defensive AND offensive effort for 4 quarters...we win.
UNC is good. No disrespect to them. I don't care if they are in the coastal or not. 11-1 isn't easy. The nerves are attributed to what's at stake. 12-0 is an incredible accomplishment. Any deficiencies we see on the field is nitpicking at this point. Wear your orange proudly. It will be a fun game. Relax and enjoy it.
Go Tigers!
