An irate father angrily complained to a teacher, "Why did you give my son an F?"
The teacher calmly replied, "Because I'm not allowed to give him a G."

And tell Klubnik his whining doesn't help. Lost your momentum because of an injury stoppage? Give me a break. Your momentum is pretty fragile.

Reminds me of a true story from my freshman year. We had a sophomore friend I will call Noel Atwood (not his name). Noel was taking Calculas 1 under Dr. Stanly, a notoriously difficult prof. Halfway through the semester, Noel went to see Dr. Stanly, to discuss his grade. Dr. Stanly said: "Give me a minute to look at your grades." After a quick review, Dr. Stanly said: "Mr. Atwood, you currently have a Fine grade. Fun. Friendship. Frolic. Mr. Atwood, you don't deserve an F. You deserve a Z,; F is the lowest grade I can give you." Noel asked if there was a way he could pull his grade up, and Dr. Stanly answered: "Mr Atwood, if a frowning man is 20 feet under way and he comes up 2 feet, he's still going to drown." Noel decided to Withdraw Failing. With another prof, later, he passed the course, graduated, went on to Vet School and ran his own Vet Clinic.
As we used to say, Noel only needed a bike with no seat and no handlebars, because he had lost his axe and didn't know which way to turn.

You took your lumps last season with grace and we will do the same. I am surprised the turn around for FSU happed so quickly. That only happens with lots of money and transfer portal. However, that is within the rules in today’s game.

These boys acting like they already got paid are certainly affecting their draft potential. NIL money must be nice enough they don’t want that NFL money.

Dabo Swinney was a great college football coach- one of the best ever but this is now professional football. Dabo used to say that he didn’t want to coach pro football and obviously he hasn’t learned how. He’s not the first successful college coach who struggled as a coach in pro football- Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, and even Nick Saban come to mind and I’m sure there are others. I hope Dabo can adjust to the new realities of the game, but it’s not clear that he is going to be willing to try.

We look at the OL recruits that sign with Clemson. Most are great-looking young men and good-sized. Almost all OL recruits don't look "mean."
As they used to say: "it's not the dog that's in the fight that's important, it's the fight in the dog yhat"s important.
Or OL and DL are getting pushed around. (And our WRs are getting tackled without penalties.) Our LBs are often in the wrong gaps and can't get off of blocks.
UNCheat away game at noon, against a bad team, after a bye, looks scarey. Clemson players are seldom ready to start a game at noon. Last year, for the game after the bye, our team was terrible, and that was a home, night game, with a full Death Valley. Can our team get better in 2 weeks?

I think there are more than just a few who aren’t pulling their weight. And I totally agree with the comments about guys who haven’t yet been paid playing harder than those who have. I said that last week. Guys like Lawson, Heldt, Randall, Smith and Brown. It really does seem like some of the guys who were supposed to become first round picks believe they have already made it and don’t need to play well this year.

Maybe one bright spot was TJ Moore playing better. He’s mostly been a sophomore slump disappointment until yesterday. Play the youth. More Adams less Woods. Either way this team will struggle to beat conference foes. May as well develop the young players who are eager to improve. Maybe they get it gelled before the game in Columbia.

Denhoff was OK.
Is OK for Parker to just be less than OK?
Chances of TJ Parker heading off to the NFL after this (his Junior) season are plummeting. That is, if aspires to be anything more than a 6th round pick.

NIL needs to move to the NFL model with part of the money guaranteed and part in a weekly check.
College football programs should be allowed to cut their millionaires during the season for non-performance just like players can leave for the portal. Fair is fair.
PWoo and TJ come to mind…..fat, happy and given up.

I guess I need to rewatch the game (which I will at some point in ESPN’s ACC Network).
Peter Woods didn’t play badly, as for what I could pick out in the absence of a replay view.
The other guy that you mentioned was not quite average yesterday. Maybe he’s hurt and playing through it. Whatever the reason, J.Lawson roundly outplayed the other guy you mentioned. Heck, Cade Denhoff had a good of a game as I’ve ever seen him play. Denhoff was slightly better yesterday than that other guy who you mentioned.

The big question is whether the only grade that counts is the grade for the players hearts. IF and it is a big if, we have high NFL draft picks on the team, when they line up and get hit in the mouth the way Syracuse did do they enough heart to respond? Coaching can't fix hearts but if they don't see what they need to from players, put them on the bench and go with someone else. I don't care if it is TJ Parker, Peter Woods, Cade Klubnik sit them and send a message. Players Grade F

Jack Smith played well again, also our long snapper (Florencio?).
Swinney and our short snapper did well on the PATs. Hauser didn’t miss any PATs.
Protection on PATs and punts was good.
Coverage on KOs and punts was good.
As has been the case all year, our special teams have been good. (I blame much of Hauser’s FG miss against GA Tech on our idiotic strategy of trying to draw GA Tech offsides … which didn’t work … and then resorting to taking a T/O. This strategic ‘genius’ in effect froze our own kicker.)

One number or statistic not mentioned. We had more yards, more first downs, ran more plays but lost. They had 3 takeaways we had 0. Similar to GT who had 2 to our none. Our Defense needs to create turnovers & our offense needs to take better care of the ball.

Yes nice try roll right Cade… those “injuries “ you are accusing them of had nothing to do with the butt whipping that got administered in Pickens County yesterday. You were out coached, out played, and out classed in every aspect of the game yesterday.

Seems like last season’s good performance by Cade was an anomaly. I hate even to think that, but facts are facts. Our stats were pretty good, but Cuse was able, at will, to make big plays to keep drives alive, and our play looked awful all the way around. That was a very embarrassing performance by Clemson. No doubt about it!

Syracuse is, at best, an average team. Their defense, in particular, is weak.
Add to that, their (quite good) QB got hurt.
Yet, they whupped us soundly. Outscored us in both First half and Second half.
Major changes in the starting lineup are needed. There’s an off week to give us the time to make an in-season adjustment.
Our starting lineup for UNC game in two weeks will reveal whether or not our coaching staff still possesses the mental agility to adjust course.
Hoping they’ll make the necessary changes.

After lsu I posted that clemson was in trouble. Beginning of the season , ga tech, fsu, even va tech for as long as that lasted played hard, played physical. And clemson did this....they clemson'd. They dropped their standard and their effort. I hate to say I was right about ga tech but now Syracuse finds an inseason fire? There are at least 4 more potential losses on the table now. This team is S A W F T! Not your ordinary soft ladies. Cade, goodbye, you're done. You've clearly checked out. You've absorbed the hype, cashed your check, and think the nfl is waiting. And you're not alone. Does anyone not realize that every time you put the orange on you are interviewing for the privilege to get on that field? And every practice and game is an interview for the NFL? You have to earn one interview to get the other. Why should a scout give a favorable report to their team on a player that shows no desire to get better? It's time to forget the number of stars a kid has by their name. You know what it takes to get those stars? Go to special camps, pay them money, prance through pre-designed drills and they boost your popularity. It's like politics the bigger wallet gets bigger ratings, not the ability and definitely not the heart of the candidate gets the nod. Now it's come open for the public. What did acc network have cade on? He talked about how he was out "training" with an outside group while the team was finishing off season workouts. That's not a leader. Leaders dominate the work expected of them and then help get the others on the team get better. First in, last out. It's time to forget the stars and bring in dogs. Bring in those that are hungry and willing to work and tell the divas they are not welcome unless they are willing to out work the others. How bad are the backups? They surely can't all be that bad and if they are, then it only shows how much of a crap show the program has become. Get some truly hungry players who are motivated to do whatever it takes to get on the fiel. Stop with the entitled divas. There are no lineman with mean streaks, no defenders who take it personal when they get burned, no relievers who take it personal they can't get open. Best is the standard? Fans work hard in their jobs to buy tickets to watch the games. Why pay to watch this crap? I won't pay to watch, that's for sure.

I remember seeing before the year started on TV where several defensive players said that they love new DC & would run through a brick wall for Allen??? What the heck happened, where is that same attitude now? First of all, allen needs to get out of the sky boxes and get on the field and get a better feel for the game and to be able to get in their faces when they miss assignments just like venables always did. (Whatever they did during that long delay at halftime with the D we need alot more of that especially before the game starts!)
Offense even though we had yards yesterday cannot get out of its own way. Riley is not living up to anywhere near the hype he had before coming here. I would let chad morris get more involved. Also, why can our offensive lineman not protect or block? Almost every play klubnik is running for his life. Luke is suppose to be one of the best o-line coaches, what is the issue then??
I know all parts of the team where given an F but, I think most falls on the coaching staff from the top to bottom. They are not doing a very good job of motivating & having the team ready to play on Saturdays. I hope Dabo is really sincere and is going to look at this from the top to the bottom of this staff the next two weeks. Plus, not get his feelings hurt when he is called out for his teams poor performance and go on another tirade.. own it, it's your fault. And, I hope you take Nick Saban's words of wisdom from yesterday and start adapting.

David, thank you for calling out Smith's lack of playing. He's shown passion and hasn't done anything but perform. At worst he's our 4th best receiver and should get more playing time. Not having him in for a hail marry is #### poor coaching.

Articles like this are exactly why Dabo has to remind us if we think we can do better, he can leave!
He still wants the 60 million, but he can leave.
Never knew David was a coot!

Dabo's bad clock management at the end of the 1st half likely cost us points.***

I have been a North upper deck seat holder since 86. I have watched exceptional, mediocre, and pathetic.Saturdays game was the latter. Something has to change and whether it’s coaching and/or player performance it’s time has come. The Clemson fan base is an exceptionally loyal and patient group, but the string has run out. Coach Dabo, we love you, and the development of the young men under your care is without equal. That is without dispute. But now it is time to hold every single player, coach, and staff member accountable for the outcome. Do it now and you’ll salvage what you can of this season. Continue on without change and you’re going to lose the core group that show up every season with championship expectations.
