Had to move to cootville for work and was called a tater by some classy coots on the street. So far so good on the cesspool. Go tigers!

a "tater" is in no way an insult to me cause it was no connection to Clemson or a Tiger. It just further illustrates the coot's utter stupidity

"tater" is in reference to Clemson...it was originally an Agriculture school.

are they saying they hate eating food? Or that anyone that has anything to do with Agriculture is dumb?
I mean I know personally a lot of Gamecoots that work in Agriculture...doesn't seem smart to be insinuating a lot of your own fanbase isn't very intelligent

I also don't think we did too much with actual potatoes, specifically. taters might be an appropriate diss to an Irishman but not a Clemson man... unless he was also Irish, then it would apply.
P.S. if it were negative to have nicknames related to agriculture then I guess Texas A&M takes the cake.

just like this is a coot:

A flightless bird (black, with some white, and red eyes, sometimes dark red....colors similar to a certain team) that is known to run vigorously, has difficulty feeding large families, attacks it's own, and preys on weak chicks.
...in case you think I'm kidding...lol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coot

Fitting for most of the coots I know...
May 29, 2015, 4:11 PM
|
|
"This heavy-bodied coot has a proportionally small head and knobs above the eyes. The plumage is mostly dark slate-gray with white on undertail feathers.
The bill and shield are white, yellow and red. It's the only coot with red / reddish legs.
Juveniles are dark dull gray, with paler underparts and dark bare parts.
Adults normally too heavy to fly and are generally considered flightless."

First time I ever heard it used was coot friend was referencing Tates Locke. Far as I know he coined the phrase back in the early seventies. He was a funny coot.

Clemson or a Tiger, how do you feel about "coot" (since you used it in the post)? I thought coot was similar to a duck, which wouldn't really be connected to SCar or a gamecock/rooster.
Maybe I don't know what a coot actually is.

In Louisiana and in French - a coot is also known as a poule d'eau
Google "poule d'eau" and get back to me.
coot ko?ot/Submit noun 1. an aquatic bird of the rail family, with blackish plumage, lobed feet, and a bill that extends back onto the forehead as a horny shield. 2. informal a foolish or eccentric person, typically an old man.

I've been here in Columbia 18 years. Just own it.
I was getting some bids for some kitchen work at my house a few years back. The sales lady pulled into the driveway right behind me. She saw my SUV with IPTAY stickers up one side of the rear window and down the other. The first words out of her mouth were, "Oh, I didn't know you were a Clemson fan! Your price just went up."
I just smiled, and the next day called her boss and told him he might want to hire salespeople that didn't make smarta$$ remarks right out the box, 'cause everyone's not as patient and tolerant as I am.

Welcome to Cootville. In spite of the fact SCU is here, it can be a nice place to live and work. I know, it's not Clemson but it's okay. I hope you settle in nicely and enjoy your new job! Take care and Go Tigers!

Taters are delicious
May 30, 2015, 1:15 PM
|
|
I love French fries (especially waffle fries), hash browns, tater tots, tater soup, tater salad (not to be confused with Ron White), loaded baked tater, tater au gratin, hasselback taters, tater skins, sweet taters, tater chips, roasted taters, and mashed Taters (my personal favorite).
Point is that taters are delicious and I think the coots were hitting on you by insinuating that you're delicious.

Years ago Clemson wore that brand because of its educational foundation . Then , there was the average upstate fan in orange coveralls that sort of perpetuated it . Today of course the school is a nationally respected research university and has far outgrown those humble beginnings . Still , i am proud of that heritage because it was our beginnings and one should never hide away from their historical cornerstone. Coots ? They have still not learned this simple lesson. Here is a poc I collected of some taters at the '81 Orange Bowl where Clemson stamped it's place among the CFB upper echelon , which coincidentally was right around the time the university began to bolster itself as a contender on the educationnal front as well .

Hearing grown men use "tater" or "coot" makes me roll my eyes...maybe it's just because I'm an outsider (from Massachusetts originally). Hearing the term "coot" or "tater" conjures visions of some dude with a camo hat, fat dip in his mouth, wearing overalls, carrying a pitchfork.
Essentially this guy: [img] [/img]

Small minds is their problem....tater = potato farmers. Guess everything agricultural is a potato in their eyes, and every major must be agriculture.
