Had a similar procedure when I was in college...

Basically, there is a network of nerves in the shoulder and neck area called the brachial plexus. A stinger injury involves compression to this network of nerves. This is generally caused when the head is forcefully pushed sideways or down. This movement and impact can pinch nerves in the brachial plexus.
Most people who have sustained a stinger don't undergo surgery unless there are other underlying issues.
Recovery varies by is rarely longer than a few weeks. However, you have to give the nerves and the area time to heal, so he likely won't be permitted to play until the injury is fully healed. He'll have to be completely symptom-free before he can return.

There's fighting to win, and then there's fighting with your spouse. A spouse will always guarantee that winning isn't worth the cost.

There's fighting to win, and then there's fighting with your spouse, when winning isn't worth what it costs you.
After 31 years, my kids have still not learned how to win from followingmy example. But they have learned how two very irritated people can come to peaceful and workable solutions.

Hey BigCUFan®, are you Dr. Chang and therefore did not actually attend Clemson, or are you someone who ripped off Dr. Chang's blog on stingers without giving proper credit? TIA

Rodgers, Ladson, EJ, Powell, Ajou, Ngata, and Galloway will be ready to pick up the slack if he isn’t ready in time.

Crap! Neck surgery is no joke. It could be very possible,

given the recovery time, that we have seen our last of him in a Clemson uniform. He already has enough bonafides on film to be a high draft choice next year.

Depends on how you define high draft choice but there's no way he goes higher than Tee if he doesn't play next season. Might even slide out of the first couple of rounds.
