I mean Cade won that North Carolina game.. I know DJ started but like baseball somebody gets the W and we were losing when Cade came in.

DJ got benched when we were losing, Cade comes in and we win. Cade wasn't great in that game and we relied heavily on the backs to get us there IIRC, but still.

So 5-12 against ranked teams ??? There is no more argument . This is not all on Cade but is a total indictment of the program under Dabo in the last several years. These results remove all doubt that the program has tumbled back to mediocrity . You can’t look at these results and still argue that Clemson is still elite and competing for titles anymore . Best is not the standard anymore !

We are not elite anymore. But far from mediocre. As much as I hate to make the comparison, we right now are like typical Penn State (aside from last year). We can beat the cupcakes and average teams, but cant beat the very good to elite teams. Its not all on Cade, its a team effort from mediocre defense the last three years, to an offense that sleepwalks in Game 1 every year since 2021. Offense has typically ramped up as the season progresses but never gets to elite.

Playing top 10 teams can be rough. Even some teams ranked 11-20 can be good. I would assume most teams records are gonna be not so impressive when going up against those teams. I prefer to look at the final AP poll to determine a ranked team. Rankings during the season are very unreliable and can swing drastically during the season. Take Univ of Texas. They made the playoffs the last 2 years. Most would say they have played great football. Since (and including the 2023 season) they are 6-6 against teams that finished the season ranked. In 2023 they beat Alabama, Kansas, Ok St, and Kansas St. They lost to Oklahoma and Washington. In 2024 they beat Clemson and ASU. They lost to Georgia twice and Ohio State. This year they lost to Ohio State.
